The Standard sphere grid is meant to guide you by the hand through the board leading you in a logical manner along the path that would seem the wiset for that character. This means more paths are blocked to you and an obvious path is apparent.

The Expert sphere grid on the other hand gives you complete freedom over how you decide to level up your characters. (As I am sure you are aware the characters level up by gaining the ability to move a certain number of spheres on the grid and unlocking the abilities they pass with items mobs drop or you obtain). In this way you can choose which way you want to go and what abilities you would rather learn.

Personally I started with the standard sphere grid when I first rented the game. Upon reaching the thunder planes I decided I was in love with the series again and purchased the game and started again with the Expert sphere grid which was much more to my liking. I would like to point out though that no matter which grid you choose you will eventually be able to unlock all skills and cover the entire board with all your characters (like I did). For any help Ash I'd be glad to tell you what I know as I poured more hours into this game than any other Final Fantasy except XI.

Well for lots of people it was the first FF they have ever played, and you know when the first game you play is realli fun you just seems to like it more than the new ones. I just realli liked the character and the plot of the whole thing, kinda shows a bit about how the government is controlling things you know. But mostly the characters, i like how Cloud is just cool, Tifa is so worried, Barret is an ass and so on.

The thing is that some of the opinions that I trust the least is the opinions of "fanatics" that seems to think that they are the only people with a valid opinion on their favourite game ( or whatever they are fanatical about ) even though they often not even say why as if it wasn't needed to be explained.

I am not saying that any one here is a real fanatic, maybe semi fanatics though some of you ( I don't hate semi fanatics but I am tired of them.

I can't say that FFVII isn't quite complex but it is not more complex than some of the other FF games, the reason to that it is more discussed is that it seems to be liked by more people.

Im not saying that everyone should love it and thats it, thats just my opinion, i have played FFVIII, FX, FX-2 and they were great aswell, my next fav would be FX, the graphics and story line are great but still i prefer FFVII because it was my first.

I can understand that you like FFVII, but I think that it is not only that it was you first FF that is the reason to that it is your favourite, I think that it suits you a little more than some of the others :wink:

Yeh i like FFX a lot aswell, the graphics were amazing the game play was realli good, i like the sphere grid, i think that it realli rivalled FFVII.
