Yes, definitely.

The marketing was atrocious and everything was confusing from the word go. The name "Wii U" and extremely similar console design to the original Wii led folks to believe the Game Pad was an add-on, rather than a new console. They should have simply called it the Wii 2 (which works wonders for the Playstation brand) and made the thing look distinguished. Additionally, I think the Wii U was released way too late as the Wii brand had started to fizzle after 2009.

Not sure if unpopular, but here are some that may be considered as such:

On the whole, video games are better now than anytime in the past.

I think Kojima and Konami should move on from Metal Gear onto new projects.  MGS4 wrapped that series up with a nice, nano-machine ridden bow.

Super Smash Bros Melee > (Super) Street Fighter IV (Arcade Edition), though I love both/all four games.

Sports games are great fun (especially NBA2k).

The 16-bit Sonic the Hedgehog games on Genesis/Mega Drive suck and have always sucked.  They look and sound fine, they just aren't good platformers.

Luigi?!?!??!  OMFBBQSAUCEG!!

This is truly amazing.  For those of you who don't know, his towards A in the air is a killer karate chop that he unleashes with the feracity of 100,000 Benghal Tigers.  Luigi is to Super Smash Bros what Big Brother is to "1984," a dominant force not to be f****d with for this overbearing all-knowing force knows every move you're going to make before you even think about making said move in the first place, plus that karate chop.  It matters not who they announce after this for Luigi the Alpha and Omega.  None shall surpass Luigi and his magnificent karate chop of utter doom and destruction.  In fact, if you ask me, Nintendo really blew their load with this one.  WHAT ELSE CAN THEY ANNOUNCE?  Sure Mr. Game & Watch comes close, but he's no Luigi by any stretch of the imaginiation.  To even suggest such things would be foolish and might get you labeled a "communist."  So yeah, you can like Game & Watch for he does have face cake, but don't even try to tell me it's better than Luigi's patented karate chop.  In fact, why are you still talking about Game & Watch?  This is about Luigi, dammit!

Gaming, for the most part has fallen into the mostly tech-illiterate mainstream and the publishers are taking advantage of the ignorance.  The majority of the target market doesn't know what DRM is, nor do they understand concepts like disc locked content.

In short, they do it because they can.

Yes.  The upcoming console generation hasn't impressed me as the industry continues to over-promise and overcharge while under-delivering.  I got a Wii U for the inevitable Nintendo exclusives, I'm on the fence about the PS4 and I'm definitely not getting the Xbone.  We'll see what Sony has to say; if they fail to impress with exclusives or reveal a buttload of console limitations and/or consumer stipulations, I'll have no choice but to go PC as they are quickly becoming the more consumer friendly product.

Maybe I'll even see what the SteamBox is all about.

[QUOTE="Sushiglutton"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] That's a really shitty excuse for writing a poorly written story: "hur dur you do it". goblaa

Actually his excuse was that it's easier to avoid plotholes if you have one ending than if you have 22. That's not a shitty excuse, but a totally fair point.

As a writer if you have the option between a ton of endings and a ton of plot holes, or, one ending and no plaot holes, you choose the latter. Obvoiusly, if you can write a story with a ton of endings and no plot holes, then hats off too you. But, clearly Mr. Cage wasn't talented enough for that.

But Mr. Cage's writing skills is not my problem, no matter how poor they are. My problem is his game making skills. He has none. You can not, by definition, categorize heavy rain (or any of his other projects) as games.

I disagree.  They're obviously ports of...

I really like the asymmetrical multiplayer that was showcased in Nintendoland and it was nice to have a 2D Mario at launch.  Although I feel Nintendo should learn to not rely on 3rd party devs for games.  They need to use some of that Wii and DS money to get their 1st and 2nd party devs moving on some software.  Obviously this is a simplified idea, but c'mon!  Give us something to enjoy!  Another idea- instead of releasing two to four Virtual Console games weekly (or sometimes monthly), how about a Virtual Console service I can pay for monthly ($10/month) and have access to an extensive libraray of NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy/Color/Advance, Genesis, and TurboGraphics games.

Where's the beef, Nintendo?

Although the negative stigma still exists with some people, the whole "video games are a waste of time" and "video games are for children" schools of thought has been steadily falling to the wayside for the past 40 years as gaming continues to become more popular.  Being a gamer in this day is not nearly as alienating as being a gamer even ten years ago, in fact I find it's quite the opposite.  It seems that everyone is playing at least one video game these days, whether it be Call of Duty, Madden, Minecraft, Zelda, Angry Birds or even FarmVille.

Perhaps being a gamer is nothing to be necessarily proud of, but it's certainly nothing to be ashamed of and a completely acceptable hobby for the 21st century.

I'll let all that other nonsense slide, but Mario Kart Wii as best racer?! I usually love Mario Karts, but the Wii version had the worst item balance in the series.
