@Doomrul

In Brazil, around ~35K people died due to gunfire incidents on 2011. It's almost 104 average Joe’s deaths every day. Shocking uhn? 99.9% were not in TV Shows.

228 people died in Chicago this year also due to firearms, I bet this was not over the media (less than Brazil of course, we are the number one).

So, one disturbed American boy, went to the next store and bought an AK47, as M16, grenades, gas masks etc.. Killed a number some American citizens and made its story to the media, following a trend which has been seen already in US. Do you think this was because of Video Games?

Don't be naiveç Videogames don't kill people (although some might die playing it). In countries where you can buy an AK47, desert eagles, ammunition and other deadly tools at the corner, are you sure MW4 is the culprit?

Terrorists and other violent acts are inevitable in our society way of life... we are 7 billion people at the same planet, striving to survive at the best way we can in world where money talks, we'll always have disturbed (unhappy, crazy.. psyco) individuals and when they get their hands on nice shiny pieces of metal you sure can expect disaster.

@Ggdograa Thanks for the reply Gg. Thinking on the "always online" - pre-release- hate, your comment made alot more sense. It was a design choice, some pleople didn't mind, some hated, but overlooking the potention of the title is indeed a bad behavior. In the end I think the DRM didn't work so well for Blizzard though. Not in terms of preventing hacks.

Don't take my comments on the hard perspective though. I like the show and the nostalgia it brings.. I remember when carmagedon was released and all the fuss about it by the time. I was just surprised when I heard about what you were saying in the end of the video.

As a suggestion, maybe we could see some article related to Diablo III current state or maybe, something more generic related to gamers critcism toward franchise design choices (jaywilsoned), or maybe, how a franchise can move from hardcore markets to casual markets.. There are many options to explore when you think about all D3 drama you can find over ther internets. Not sure if it fits for your show.. and this is not the first time I have suggested this though.

Keep up the good work.

@Gareth Robinson , the episode was good while you were talking about the controversy.

However you missed the point when you started talking about customer complaints. You said people expects crap befora a game is released - "instead of looking for sequels and new ips they just assume it will be crap" - this is wrong, people tend to assume things will be epic when you talk about their favorite sequels or titles they are looking after, specially when the media, such as game spot and other vehicles, tend to MARKET such realeases.

Another point, just after the above, where you (in my opinion) went totally in the wrong direction, was when you mentioned about people complaining, you said "they'r favorite franchise is getting ruined as if they have onership over it at the first place". I ask you, why should people not complain? Following the shows name, "IN WITH THE OLD" would you not complain about a faulty mega-drive cartrige? Or that a dumb developer turned your castlevania into a super-mario game?

People do have the right to complain, and people do have a certain degree ownership on franchises if you think that they are the ones that support it. Criticism is good as long as fans are reasonable and protect the gaming community against corporative greed and rip offs.

It was specially funny to see this second point you made with Diablo cutcenes on the background, specially when gamespot had never mentioned anything about the severe criticism the game received from fans on any article.

My 2 cents.

@Poodlejumper I would not expect to get an answer on why Caroling gave it a 8.5. I am pretty sure she had her reasons.. and maybe the review was to soon or did not cover as much content as it needed for a solid grade.

However, I would expect gamespot to at least visit the game again and make a post mortem article about the game, maybe going deeper and speaking about the first ``RMA`` and it`s consequences. That`s the least I can expect from gamespot...

for some reason though, the BIG media is really quite about all the riot/hate going on with D3 and it`s concepts.

Thanks for the reply Poodle.

@Brendan Sinclair, Senior Editor

Brendan, people dying in front of video games is not a new thing. But it’s your job to write up news so thanks for the article. I appreciate the time spent on gathering the info on it.

I would argue though, that a much better subject to rant is the actual state of Diablo III as a game, and the reasons why did Diablo III sold so many copies and is still hated by so many fans.

Have Gamespot not noticed that metacritic is showing 3.8 on user reviews and Amazon is showing 2 stars while Carolyn Petit, gave a 8.5 to the game?

I dare you or any game spot editors to come up with an in depth re-review of D3 endgame, flaws, and successes. I dare you to talk about the RMA concept and AH impact on the game design; I dare you to honor your position as a good site for the gaming community and really just make something worth the read about one of the great (or worst) sequel to a gaming franchise we learned to love.

Thank you,
