If anything retailers are better for consumers. How often do you see the price of game discounted for months at retailers, while the price is still msrp digitally. Companies don't care about the consumers, they only care about profit.
Come on Tom, why are you asking why that mode isn't the default, because its a game! Do you think the majority of the other people would play that other mode. They are in the business of making and selling games.
