Well CaroIyn, in regards to your criticisms of the game's misogyny, I can definitely see how you feel that way. However, for me and so many others, this is one of the reasons GTA, as a franchise, is so damn entertaining. Sometimes it crosses some uncomfortable boundaries, but nonetheless It IS satirical, it IS joke. How can you hear a line about using woman as a urinal and NOT conclude that it's a joke? Nobody actually endorses using women as urinals, at least I god damn hope not. GTA serves to exaggerate all things wrong with society and turn it into one big ridiculous joke. That's a staple of the series, that's part of what makes it so well known and so well loved.
That's how I feel, at least. I'm not one to tell anyone else that their feelings are wrong, but I just wanted to offer my perspective.
@hector530 No. It's because GTA is notorious for pushing the boundaries of political and moral correctness. It's what makes GTA, GTA. The misogyny is just another part of the whole "morally incorrect" theme that the entire series has going for it. And to me, that is a largely entertaining part of the GTA franchise.
@netter99 This is a strange, but understandable phenomenon in game reviews. Games are not reviewed in a vacuum. Instead, they are compared to games that they are in potential competition with at the time of release. This can warp reviews but also prevents something known as "score inflation".
@steviegthekop That's because it really isn't. "The bad" is just a couple trivial bullets that really don't detract from the overall experience in any meaningful way.
@mastertien123 Crysis: Warhead was a dull, short, Crysis rehash. It was nice, as a small addon to Crysis, but didn't add anything valuable to the series.
@liveanimals Thank you for this. Thank you so much. I absolutely loved Crysis 3, being a fan of Crysis, Crysis: Warhead, and Crysis 2. I've been feeling almost bullied seeing all this hatred toward the game. Finally you come along and say everything I have been thinking. This game is massively underrated.
@gilaliz I completely disagree. Crysis 1 was just generic outpost korean shooting for half the game. If I wanted to play a game like that, I would play Far Cry 3. I have played Far Cry 3, and I loved it, but I don't play Crysis for the same reasons. Crysis didn't get interesting or exciting until the aliens showed up. That's what made Crysis 1 so appealing for me. Crysis was never meant to be an open world series anyway, it was meant to be linear, but not on-rails. Like Half-Life.
