@unikat: The reason to have an xbox, like any console, is to play it on your television, on your couch and not on the computer. This is why it won't hurt microsoft. I've already described this. Microsoft gives you the option of playing on PC if you want, or on your Xbox. It's flexibility. Microsoft chose to set up Play Anywhere. Microsoft isn't worried about losing any gamers. They are doing this with Play Anywhere so gamers have more options where they want to game. That's a positive.

You're describing what exclusives used to be. Microsoft is trying to do something different by allowing their games to be played in more then one way. I personally appreciated it when I traded in my Xbox One S for credit towards my Xbox One X. During this time I didn't have an Xbox but was still able to advance in my games due to being able to play them on PC. Once I had the One X, I resumed playing it there, in front of my 4K television where I get superior resolution.

Oh also, if you buy one of the Microsoft games that are play anywhere, you only buy it once. It'll show up in your library in the Microsoft Store.. free to download. Again, Microsoft is doing this... for gamers. It's fan service and it's great. It's not a disadvantage or liability. When I say Microsoft's exclusives are just that, and no longer limited to just Xbox. It's a win-win. Of course this is if you like these exclusives in the first place.

I'd love to see Sony do the same thing. I should mention I also have a PS4 Pro, and love playing Uncharted, Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn and also Dark Souls (although that's not an exclusive). Sure you can stream to your console, but I would love to have that flexibility where I just play it from my PC as well, without having to have the console on. Maybe one day!

@unikat: it depends on what games you like. if you like forza/halo, etc... you get an xbox.. if you like all the Japanese titles.. you get Playstation. it's that simple. Not everyone likes the games that are considered so strong on Playstation. Not everyone likes Last of us/Zombie games, etc. it really does just depend on what you like.

@unikat: they're exclusive to the Windows Platform. You buy a console if you want to sit in the living room, etc. and play your games that way. The point of the Play Anywhere program is flexibility ... not limiting people to playing on one device. It's a benefit. There are times I'll play on my PC, but primarily I'll be on my Xbox. it's like Spencer said.. times have changed, and people just don't play games on one device anymore. If you like Forza you'll play it. Microsoft isn't nervous about losing Xbox sales because they know this. Really? With the position Microsoft is in? They should be wanting to sell xboxes. The point is that you can play anywhere. just like the name means. You aren't limited. You can't do this on PlayStation and have saves transfer over. That's how you know that this is what Microsoft is doing. You can advance your progress in-game regardless of what platform you're playing on. I'm sorry.. but that's a great thing. I applaud Microsoft's flexibility here and giving back to the gamer. Exclusive to the windows platform. They have exclusives. If Forza would have released at the same time as the One X, they wouldn't have this criticizm, but it released when it was done. To me, as a gamer, it makes no difference WHEN the games are released as long as they ARE released, and MS has several other games coming, just not this year. But regardless, it's a great time to be a gamer. With the Xbox being the hit that it is, it'll push Sony to answer and release an even better console. I'm excited for that.

@unikat: Microsoft isn't going to have "exclusives" like that.. where they only play on the Xbox and not the PC. Cross saving between PC and Console works and that's a good thing. Are you around your PC? Want to play Forza 7.. cool. Now are you on your Xbox? Want to pick that game up right where you left off... you can. That's the point with the Play Anywhere idea. Sony has nothing like it. The program is about flexibility. You can play on your pc if you want, but with the Xbox One X out now, you have a console that is more powerful then most PCs, and you get HDR and 4K graphics, so why would you.

I can't help but wonder if some people don't really understand what the Play Anywhere idea is all about.

The Xbox One X is much more PC like now in the way games are handled. It's why they still have the S around and not just the X. Think of it like upgrading the graphics card in your PC. The games will still work. Want the best possible experience? Pop an GTX 1080 in your computer, and you'll get native 4K.

This is what Microsoft is doing now. It's why the term "exclusive" doesn't mean the same thing. Either way, the games are still tied to Microsoft operating systems, whether it be Windows 10 on PC or Xbox.

What the Xbox One X needed was a launch title. The closest thing to that was besides Cuphead (which doesn't count really), is Forza 7, which absolutely counts. It was made, from the start, for the One X. Turn 10 has maintained this from the beginning, and I'm loving every minute of it.

Forza 7 is first party, and it’s true 4K, HDR, and 60 fps. It’s also a game which can show what the Xbox One X can do. It doesn’t matter if Microsoft released it at the same time. It’s available, and it’s awesome. Games will always look better from first-party developers. These games showcase the hardware. It’s the same, as you said, with Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS4. Microsoft made mistakes with the Xbox One. It’s a known fact. Get over it. Microsoft is back now with an awesome console that beats the PS4 Pro at every turn. Let’s applaud them for that. Also, they didn’t have to improve these old games, like Oblivion or Fallout 3, but they did. They did it for the fans. It was very much for the fans. OG Xbox? Really? KOTOR anyone? They didn’t have to at all, but they did. For the fans. Please gentleman, let’s be objective and give credit where credit’s due. The games will come. Right now is meaningless. Let developers get their hands on the hardware for both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X and start making more native 4K games. That’s when things will be exciting. For now, developers got their existing games looking good on the One X hardware. The question is now: where will you play your third party games? Me (I have both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X).. I’ll play it on the better hardware where games will look better and play better.. that’s the Xbox One X. I’ll save the PS4 for their exclusives, which by the way only run at 1440p. Did anyone mention that?

@guitarist1980: I stand corrected. That is true. What I was remembering is that both ps4 and xbox one outsold their previous generations at launch:

https://news.xbox.com/2013/11/23/xbox-one-biggest-launch-in-xbox-history/

And:

http://n4g.com/news/1836234/ps4-and-xbox-one-vs-ps3-and-xbox-360-aligned-sales-comparison-november-2015-update

Either way, my initial point is valid. Both consoles are more powerful then their previous generations and are selling well on their own. What matters is if you're having fun with your console. I have both, and enjoy games on both. It shouldn't be a big deal at all, and it's not to me.

yes. none of this matters. whether you have xbox one or ps4.. enjoy the console you have. they both have already outsold their previous generation iterations which says enough right there. I have both consoles and love them both for the features they offer.

how about a gamepad with refined joysticks with better sensitivity! I'm getting killed in pac man! I heard one is coming out, but with all the arcade ports being released on live, it's very necessary.
