I remember there was a "leaked" alpha build of Doom 3 about 9 months before it launched which showed very little from the main game, I will however say that it was better looking than the released game, and the combat seemed tighter, if less forgiving.

Activision and EA should have a pact that they take it in turns to release a military FPS every year. It wouldn't even be so bad if the crap one from one series came out the same time as a good one from the other comes out, but alas no, we got MW3 and BF3 in the same year (both great) then we got BlOps2 and MOHWF (Both decidedly average in my opinion) and, at a guess, we're getting BF4 and probably CoD title by Infinity Ward which means both will be wheeling out the big guns again this year. Maybe we should consider it decent of both to have a fair fight :P

I would have thought GoW would be a relatively easy starting point to create a good strong female character. People enjoy the games anyway, they've been introduced to Sam and Enya and as for character building, as long as there is a story present, I see little issue. As for either of them being represented as a sex symbol, that's pretty tough considering all the COG soldiers wear more armour than an M1 tank. Personally, in the old days of proper arena shooters (Quake 3, UT series) where you could choose a character, I don't know why, but I always picked a female character, I have nothing against running around in a game as a female character. Hell, I think it would be cool if they had females in CoD or Battlefield, in real life women risk their lives on the front line on a daily basis.

Damn, that puts a downer on my idea that they were going to release a Rock Band title for the PS4/720. If they were I was going to ask are they going to let us download all of our previous content to the new console, I've probably got £200 of Rock Band content and I'd like it to remain relevant and useable.

I have to say, the specs aren't so impressive, let us not forget that the 360 has 3x3.2GHz power PC CPU, an AMD graphics chip which is related to the X1xxx series and only 512MB of RAM, but look at what it can do with those "poor" specs. Equally, the PS3 has it's bizarre 7.1core CELL chip clocked at 3.2GHz (rumours are that the slims were clocked at 3.4GHz) which isn't as strong as true multicore technology as the instruction sets are much more simple it looks great on paper and is very good under the right circumstances, 256MB of RAM and a graphics chip related to NVidia's 7000 with 256MB of dedicated graphics RAM.

By comparison, if you take away all of the overheads and driver limitations, the performance you can get from these components is fantastic. Taking that into account, just think how much further the new systems will push things. The components listed make for a pretty decent gaming PC which would cope with more or less anything you throw at it today, taking away the software limitations and dealing with hardware alone will make the new machines absolutely brilliant.

I hope that by using x86 or x64 based architecture these new consoles will help improve the quality of multiplatform games. BF3 and Far Cry 3 are pretty much the last 2 games that come to mind which can make PC's shine and show how good things can be if they are done properly, compare this to Need for Speed Most Wanted which whilst it looks great on PC, runs like a dog half of the time, there's no excuse for that! With the new skills needed to get the next generation of consoles running well, PC gamers such as myself should see a vast improvement. Here's hoping!

@Bungiehalo @rattyocaster The content should definitely be released on everything, but yes, if they have to have a stupid exclusivity deal, it should only be temporary. I do however agree all content should come to PC first :)

@Bungiehalo Battlefield and CoD use the only exclusivity clause that is remotely acceptable. Earlier release to one or other platform with any others ALREADY CONFIRMED. At least then you know it's coming, even if it is only on one platform for a while

Personally, I think dedicated mobile devices will probably become more niche, but home consoles will still be big sellers. Even my parents borrow my PS3 to rent films from the PSN store or watch BD movies, this shows how by diversifying the features of a machine you increase your market. I still believe that the PS3 is one of the best Blu Ray players on the market, even down to suggesting it to my clients because of everything else it does besides games and BD support. The fact that the PS3 has some seriously cool games is the main reason I'm interested in the PS4 (Killzone 4 and Uncharted 4 please and of course GT 6).

@dantesergei The current gen consoles failure rate (yes BOTH 360 and PS3) are down to a poor choice of solder at the development stage. They used lead based solder which is very conductive and great with higher current, but poor with heat, over time the console heating up and cooling down would eventually crack the solder causing the console to fail. It's not the heat itself that causes the problem, if you bought a 360 when it first came out, turned it on and never turned it off, chances are it would keep going almost forever, but warming and cooling the components and solder causes it to fail. Newer components use different solder which isn't as good with current but can take much more thermal stress as it is far less brittle, so the next gen consoles, as long as they don't overheat, the RRoD and YLEDoD shouldn't happen again!
