OK,

Let me see if I can help. First of all you should have a router provided by your Internet Service Company. Your Internet Connection will be a CAT5 Ethernet cable coming out of your wall and into the Router. From the Router you run additional Ethernet Cables to your PC and/or your PS3. Most Routers have about 4 extra Ethernet connections.

If you say that you have an Ethernet Cable in your PS3, You will most likely be running this Cable from the Router. Make sure you do have an Ethernet Cable. It will be labled CAT 5, 5e, or 6 in most cases. It looks like a phone line but it's much larger. I know this is basic, but you mentioned you are not that great with Computer Stuff, so I want to make sure.

Once you know that you do have an Ethernet Cable in your PS3. The setup is usually automatic. The only thing you have to Provide is a WEP Key from your Router. This will be a sticker on the Router. Write it down and when you go to the Network Setup on the PS3, Make sure you selected "Wired" connection and enter the WEP Key when asked. The rest of the settings should be set automatically for you so let the PS3 do this for you.

The test will run and you will have a success or failure. It may take more than one test for it to get connected initially. So try it several times before giving up.

Try this and let us know what the results are and we can help you further. It will also help us if you let us know who your Internet Provider is. Most routers are the same for each provider and someone can help you with the specific settings of the router if we need to dig in deeper.

I have FIOS.

It's getting very hard for PS3 owners to decide where to spen their money. :-) I also have a 360, so you know I am in trouble.

The Pure Demo was very fun and I look forward to the release of the game. Reminded me of SSX by the crazy jumps and tricks you can pull off.

It's simple really. You can pay $400 for a stand alone Bluray player and get just that, a player that plays Bluray and DVD's.

OR

You can spend the same $400 for a PS3 which is also one of the best Bluray player in the market and it's a connected internet device that gives you updates on the new Bluray Profiles which other players can't always do.

Profile updates give the Bluray player more functionality as they introduce more features in the Bluray movies such as trivia games and such.

The PS3 is also a Media Player which can stream your Pictures, Videos and Music from your PC over a Wifi connection. It can also store Videos, Pictures and Movies on it's 80GB Hard Drive.

The PS3 is also an Internet Browser which you can use in the living room on your large LCD TV if you need it.

The PS3 will not allow you to burn Bluray movies to the Hard Disk without some kind of illegal hack, so I would not recommend this at all.

On top of all the great reasons mentioned above. The PS3 is a Next Generation Console that has a long bright future with some fantastic games. Most games are the same for both the 360 and the PS3, but you will have the choice to play the Exclusives from each console when you have both. The PS3 by the way has a fantastic growing library of games. You may not want to mention this last portion if your goal is to sell your Dad on the PS3's other features.

In the near future there will also be a DVR attachement for the PS3 which will allow you to record TV on it.

OH!. Don't forget the Playstation Store Movie Rental and Purchase service. You can rent or buy SD and HD movies right from the Playstation network. You can start viewing the movies as they download, so there is no wait time.

Seriously. The PS3 is a great value not just as a Next Generation Console, but a great media device. I own both the 360 and the PS3.

I need to pick it up in the next couple of days. The one area of complain I hear about is the terrible AI. I own the original and I remember the AI was not that great either, but the game was enjoyable anyway.

So listen to the user reviews as a whole. Gamespot has not reviewed it yet and this makes me upset. All other sites have the review in already. Either way the user reviews hold more weight anyway.

It's a horror/drama game that strays away from the tradition formula.

Let's face it. In the real world, if you where investigating a serial killer and you where a reporter of some sort. You will not be carring around with weapons, grenades and rocket launchers.

This game is going to let you experience a story from the perspective that you don't have any of these things and you are not expected to have them either. Think of a horror movie you have seen in the theaters. Most of the time they people in these movies are in situations where they have to run, sneak, hide and SCREAM, but they don't have weapons or Special Forces training.

That is the concept. It may vey well scare you because when you see the killer coming for you, you don't have weapons and must use your head instead.

Hope that makes sense.

[QUOTE="hillelslovak"]Its a great looking game. I wouldnt say its the best looking game ever like so many people on these forums, but the graphics are great.Cactus_Matt

So what would you say ARE the best graphics on a PS3 game so far? Open to everyone's opinion of course.

My opinion is MGS4. Could do with less cut scenes but they where all in game graphics and it was amazing.

I think what Sony means that all future games will have trophies. This does not mean that all existing games will be patched to accept them. Think about how much work will go into this. The developers will need to program this into the game and make them available. May not be something they are willing to spend time and money on.

All future games will have trophies but starting on what date? That is another mystery all together.

I do 3D Modeling and Animation for a living. This will be a game that will allow me to use my creative abilities in my favorite hobby. I think the community portion of LBP is what makes it such a great idea. It's one thing to spend allot of time making a great level and object, but to share it with the LBP community and watch your level rise to the top of the ranks is genious.

This will get the creative juices going for many people and give everyone a chance at making something of their own.

Based on all the hands on reviews I have read in various sites. I would say that KZ2 is living up to the hype and then some. They are doing many things right and many things differently.

Let's wait for the release and hope the entire package works out. I think it will.

Just about every game made for one system is available on the other. So I am not sure where people get the idea that the library is not that good. Exclusives are the only thing that set the systems apart anymore.

The PS3 came out 1 year later than the other console, so you need to consider this as well. Last I checked the PS3's top ten games average a 9.0 score. The PS3 has more games than just about anyone could purchase that are ranked above 8.5

A mystery I guess.
