Props for trying something new but vs multiplayer modes are not gears atm. No dbno, no locust, no executions, no active reloads (can live without), only one primary weapon, and only like 4 maps?! Disappointed until they release old style gears vs modes with those features. That said, Overrun is where I will be spending my time as I think it was done pretty well.
No, you cannot go down in rank in cod or gears without prestige/re-up. I don't play BF, but I believe you just keep gaining ranks with experience as well. Halo is the only one that has a ranking system that is somewhat reliable. In the other cases, rank means nothing but how much time you play, not skill.
Then pass... His point was that it doesn't affect the game. There is no pay to win, only pay to look different. Just play the game and ignore the ADD ONS. Aside from being killed by someone with a pink gun, you won't be any worse off.
Sadly, you're right... But the same goes for every other game where there's a "rank". Ppl search for ways to be good without winning. They still lose tho...
Success is how you measure it. You think paying money to have a higher number by your name is success. I think, ya know, actually being able to win is success. Money won't help get my kind of success.
Unfortunately money is what runs this business. Microtransactions give people the opportunity to waste their money on cosmetics, like xbl and ps avatars. I personally won't buy any, but so what if people want to? These are not mmos, they are action games. Skill will always win out.
But what determines your skill? I know I care more about who I can beat than the number by their gamertag. If you run into a person rank 100, you're rank 10, and you rape em, what good does their rank do?
What is the disadvantage? If you're good, you're good. Your "rank" doesn't matter... The skins don't help you play better in any way. What is the "significant disadvantage" you speak of?
Get over the microtransactions... Don't buy em if you don't want to. Play the main game you're buying and let some people waste their money on double xp/skins if it makes them feel better. No harm no foul.
