Hi all, I heard from a friend last summer that Microsoft was considering adding a patch that would build achievements into older original Xbox games like Halo 2. I was wondering if there was any truth to that and, if so, when it might happen.

It's rough trying to decide, especially with supposed price drops around the corner.

Sorry, I should have qualified that more. I will get at least the premium. My question is whether or not the Elite's hard drive is worth the hundred extra bucks. Thanks for the response.

I asked this question in another thread, but I am curious about the answer so let me make it its own topic.

My understanding is that, because of the core 360 systems, Microsoft discourages/disallows companies from developing games that use HD space (the way Oblivion on the PS3 packs a few gigs of material onto the HD).

Does anyone know if Microsoft is going to start allowing companies to utilize HD space for their games more frequently/readily? I ask because I'm mulling over whether or not to get a regular 360 or Elite.

I was under the impression that Microsoft generally forbids companies from building games that require HD space. Is there any buzz about this prohibition being lifted?

Is there any particular reason for investing in an Elite? The only thing I can see is the bigger hard drive, but does it really make that much of a difference with an XBOX? I'm not a big demo/movie trailers guy. The only thing I care about HD space for is game content, and the XBOX doesn't use HD space for games if I recall correctly.

Does a normal Xbox360 have 1080p or only the Elite? The advertising for the normal says 1080i while the Elite says 1080p, but as best I can tell they both have the same parts except for the larger hard drive.

Sound isn't the issue, it's just getting the component to display any kind of picture. Is there something I should be doing in the system settings?

Thank goodness for the internet. I am having the following problem and wonder if you have any thoughts on it.

I cannot get a screen or sound when I connect it to Component AV. It works beautifully in HDMI (1080 resolution), and it works in typical RCA jack mode (of course it works here at 480 resolution only). But I get nothing but a blue screen when I hook it up to Component, which is supposed to support 1080i output.I have tried it on two tv's, and I have tried both the SONY cable and a third party "made for PS3" cable.
