If we are able to use third party server hosts, then I don't have much of a problem with this. Granted, that would only be possible for PC, and I bet EA wouldn't be all that thrilled to relinquish control over the game, even if they decide to no longer support it.

@theshonen8899 Sony is not making a large profit off of these cards, as stated in the article but these cards will not stop piracy - just about every anti piracy measure simply serves to hurt honest customers and only slow down pirates till they can find a work-around.

@sgtZipper If you wanna throw your money away, thats your prerogative. For the rest of us, this whole thing is ridiculous and for them to charge so high for something that simply doesn't need to be is bad business. This article explains perfectly why its so wrong of them to charge such outlandish prices - Sony is forcing you into a corner and you have no way out. They are not giving the consumer the choice to make his or her own decisions and I think in (at least) the long run they will suffer for it. I know I am in the market for a handheld console, and I also know I won't be picking up one of these.

That is really uncool for people to lash out at someone for expressing an idea - that just is dangerous territory. As for the idea itself - that is an interesting take on games, and I can see that that would make people angry because they would feel like they have a cheat button - but in all reality they wouldn't HAVE to use it and by all means if it angers you that much just don't buy the game! You don't go out and harass all the developers of games and genres you don't like do you? You just don't buy any of their products! Its that simple! If no one buys it, then they wont make more like it - if people do, then there is a market for it and people that get enjoyment out of that game will have something that they didn't once before.

That is a really innovative idea - I'm interested to see what other titles they decide to expand into

You both make excellent arguments. I am now torn on this matter... gonna have to give it some more thought.

There is nothing wrong with what they are doing - If you have a problem with the AH, don't use the AH. It simply offers other options for those looking for them. Gold may inflate rapidly at first but it should level off after some time when people really realize how much things are worth. Have faith in the free market!

The problem with games that have ratings of 6 or lower, heck even 7's, is that just because you may get a decent amount of enjoyment out of it - is it really worth it when they charge you $50-$60? Granted, they can sometimes be lower. But even when they are free I personally find it hard to ever want to play a game I would rate a 6 over a game I would rate a 9 or 10 - regardless of the price paid for either - because time is a commodity. And if a game is frustrating to play... thats worse than doing nothing at all, even if there are good moments in it. Why waste your time "killing time" on something that just barely keeps you entertained and may actually cause you to become frustrated instead when you can spend your time on something you don't need to force yourself to play and in fact would enjoy playing?
