Reality Check to PC fanboys: The reason consoles are popular has nothing to do with graphics, it has to do with the fact that people don't want to come home from slouching over a desk all day (either at school or at work) to "relax" by slouching over their desk all night to play a PC game.
Are there ways to hook up your desktop PC to your living room TV? Of course. Is it as convenient, easy, cheap, and consumer-friendly as a console? No.
So keep bragging about better graphics, no one really cares. No really, no one cares.
He's right, price is not as big of an advantage some people seem to think it is between the consoles. Reason being if you have $400 to spend on a gaming console that means you have disposable income (or you saved up that much).
So at that point spending $100 more is not a huge leap. If you can't afford a $500 console you probably shouldn't be buying consoles in the first place, even $400 ones.
@pcgamer194 I mostly agree with you. I'm only mildly interested in Watch Dogs and it would probably take an incredible review (like 10/10) for me to feel like it's a must-buy.
I'm not even a big open-world fan so Watch Dogs is kind of meh. I'm much more excited for The Division which is also open-world but has a different feel than traditional open-world games I've seen.
@udubdawgz Judging from the deluge of vile personal attacks on the reviewer of GTA V I suspect things will become a lot more "pc."
But yes, we'll have to wait and see I suppose. My original comment was aimed more at the general culture, which is why I linked it to IGN. You can add TechCrunch to that list as well.
There's a larger, intentional, cultural shift happening in the tech/gaming worlds.
@udubdawgz @nycprocess If you don't like the changes you can leave. That's basically what Gamespot is saying.
So if you want to say it's "liberal political-correctness run amok." Go right ahead, but you (and I don't mean you specifically) will be forcibly removed from the site if you violate Gamespot's wishes.
Think of it like this. Gamespot has a house and they invited us all to a party. If you're a jerk they will kick you out. Being a "jerk" is, obviously, subjective. Get over it, it's their house. Find another party if you need to.
Well done Gamespot. IGN recently made a welcome change to how they moderated their comments and it's nice to see more gaming sites doing the same.
Nerd/tech culture in general has a serious problem with diversity, and simply not accepting the garbage SOME people anonymously spew on the web is a step in addressing some of the problems in our culture as a whole.
