@liquidbutter: Sorry you seem to be having issues with the VoD's on the site.

Fact is, all the Live videos on GameSpot.com are available instantly following the broadcast. This is how our DVR video player works. We (too) start archiving the stream before its even over, and have been for 3+ years. While a broadcast is live, you can use the little "scrub" bar and rewind the stream live - in real time.

According to my publishing logs, the Megabit VoD was published at 12:31pm PT (31 minutes after it finished airing) in HD quality. There was a downtime of approx 7 minutes while it was converting from Live to VoD. I published this video to the site.

When the broadcast was over, what was the issue? When you went to this URL - http://www.gamespot.com/videos/u-n-squadron-snes-megabit/2300-6419853 - What was the behavior? Blank screen? No video Player? Ad play but no video? I'd like to solve this with you, as you seem to be experiencing a site and or cache issue.

@Mr_Pants_tent and @Jasbro - Moving forward, all HoH full videos will be uploaded to GameSpot, and will be in their show page here: http://www.gamespot.com/shows/houseofhorrors/

~Dan

Is it possible to watch videos in HD in the mobile version of GS?

OsciBosci
We are currently working on integrating our Hi5 video player into GameSpot mobile, and you will have the choice of Low, High and HD. Look for this to be deployed soon!

Newly released videos are very choppy in high-def, and when I press the download button, for some videos, not all, the video just streams in a new window. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and the newest version of Firefox.jmelvin66

After you click the download button, select the version you want to download and Right-Click the link and choose "Save Link As..."

This should solve your issue.  Please let us know if you continue to have issues. :)

[QUOTE="Copernicus79"]A special thanks for fixing Fable: The Lost Chapters Video Review download links. GTA III and GTA San Andreas is also both watchable and can both be downloaded in MP4 Hi-res and original QuickTime format. Perfect job :) The Morrowind video review is also watchable again, but can't be downloaded yet. Anyway keep up the good work.

@Copernicus79 - These should all be fixed. The ones that do not have a High Res option were created before we encoded to High Resolution, or the original source file was lost. If there is a download available, it will be the highest quality in the database. Unfortunately, some will only be low res.

hmmm, that doesn't seem like streaming at all. Maybe I'm just used to youtube and giantbomb . . . and every other streaming player where you can skip around to wherever at it loads from that position.

Mr_Pants_tent
The player defaults to Progressive Download, not streaming. If you would like to use streaming, you can set the player to "auto" in the resolution selector box in the lower right hand side of the player. Currently, we are working with out CDN to have the player serve "Pseudo Streaming", similar to YouTube, but this change will not be implemented until after E3 this year. Expect to see the upgraded change in a month or so.

I'm so pissed off since you change the video player! Why no more youtube? My downloader try to download all the video instead of playing them! When my downloader is off nothing work black screen! I got flash player updated using firefox! With IE is doesnt work either...

This website is becoming heavy with all your recent update.... can't you keep the website clean and not overwhelming?

Ideuss_
Sorry to hear you are having issues with the new updates. Our previous video player was similar to our current new one, and we rarely use YouTube embed players. We'll need a little more information to see if we can help you out. What operating system (version), Firefox version, Flash version are you using? Are you using any sort of Ad Block plugins or scripts? Have you tried simple things like clearing browser cache? Unfortunate that you seem to think the site is becoming "heavy" with the updates, as the pages, player and images have gone under a lot of optimization to lighten up the page load and load times for video players. We've tested a significant decrease on page weight in all of these with the recent updates.

When I try to watch Brink video review I get this

I tried to reinstall flash but it didn't work. Also I can watch videos from other sites without a problem. What would be the problem?

murekkep
Is this still happening for you? Can you tell me a little more about your setup? OS? Browser? Flash Version? Javascript installed?

Hey @strangeseraph , We have been having some issues with iTunes not pinging our RSS feed since last week. I have spoken with Apple support on this, and they are looking in to it. In the mean time, you can visit the Today On The Spot page (http://www.gamespot.com/shows/today-on-the-spot/), select the episode, and you can manually download the iTunes version by clicking "Download", and add it to your iTunes library. ~neur0

I'm not getting any new episodes of Today On The Spot through the 'Today On The Spot' itunes feed. I The last episode I got was the Pixel Junk Shooters demo episode.

I can't watch the show through the site, its too laggy.

Help!

I'm looking into this now. So, it started happening with the Feb 4th show? Did the Feb 2nd show play fine?

They are all encoded as h.264 with avc1 codecs, but I'll have to look into if there was a codec update, or version change.
