Wow... the level of ignorance is astonishing. "Violence for the sake of violence is a troubling trend." Unfortunately that is patently false. Violence has been its own form of entertainment for millennia, and yet we currently live in the most violence-free era of human existence.

Also - developers, like all product manufacturers/suppliers, respond to popular demand. It is extremely arrogant to try to supplant your personal demands/preferences for others'.

I wish I could turn down Tom's shrill-level or his superiority complex like I could adjust the brightness on my monitor; it is deafening. It is unfortunate he feels it appropriate to act the ultimate judge of good and evil in the hearts of men. Beware; you're either with him or against him! Tom shall pass judgement upon all from his easy chair.

I don't like D3 and I really dislike Blizzard games in general (save D2). But I recognize that there are millions of people who love them, and developers only survive by providing what customers enjoy. Yes, they can add features that customers don't like (e.g. DRM online requirements), but customers always have a choice. It is extreme to call Blizzard evil because they provide something that people like so much they may use the product too much. The argument is only valid if gamers are mindless automatons. Providing a product that is so good that some customers choose to over-use it is not evil. To say so - or that it is capitalism run amok - is to distract from truly evil and greedy behavior.
