Well, I can understand not liking the game because it's not the kind of game you're into, but not liking it for the reasons the OP posted makes you come across as idiotic and incredibly impatient.

Personally I don't think it's a masterpiece. It has many poor or boring parts and others that are very good.

Blasphemy! JK blight town kinda sucks, I'll agree with you on that. It's the equivalent of the water temple in Ocarina of Time

[QUOTE="JangoWuzHere"] I think it's a dark day for PC gaming when people buy this game and think this meets the quality standards of the platform. I'm not seeing any justfied reason on why we are getting such a **** port. This is like getting Resident Evil 4 on PC and saying it's fine because the games fun. I know it's a fun game, but that doesn't make it okay. The fact that there are people defending this blows my mind. I'm not a hardcore PC game, but I have quality standards for when I play games on my PS3 and my PC.

JangoWuzHere

I feel like you might be overreacting a bit, lately the PC has been getting some good ports. The new Deus Ex had a great PC port from Square Enix, a Japanese developer. I made this thread to counter people who would simply avoid this game because it's not a very good port. Been following this from the day it was announced, From Software had literally NO IDEA how to make a PC port, and did it all by themselves. You could argue that they should have enlisted help from another studio, but talk about dedication to your fanbase. I hope From Software has learned valuable lessons and I hope that when the next Souls game is released, they can do a better job with PC, but until then, I'm just going to ignore the blemishes and enjoy this fantastic game once again.

See, but now you are trying to justfy this port because they have a lack of PC experiance. I'll say this again, I don't think consumers should think about what happens inside a developer studio. All that matters is that they get a quality product. If a developer makes mistakes, then they should be ridiculedfor such mistakes. They shouldn't be forgiven and praised while saying " Welp, better luck next time FromSoftware!" I personally don't see this as rewarding the fanbase. Fans deserve better, they shoudn't be the ones getting the short end of the stick.

Well, you may be right in a lot of your points, flipside being that From Software could have just not made this port (a decision I'm sure they thought a lot about) and then PC only gamers would never have a chance to experience this game. It is what it is, you can accept it and just play the game, or boycott it because of the port quality, your decision. Bottom line, this game rocks regardless.

There's nothing Japanese about the developer of DEHR, Eidos, except the publishing contract with the exclusively console developer Square Enix that is also almost entirely publishing console games only.

Thanks for the correction, my bad

So, I've been playing a bit more D3 since the patch, after not playing for a few weeks, and I must say, it feels better. I feel like inferno is still an immense challenge, but there's far less of the brick wall feeling. You know, where you just see an elite mob with an impossibly cheap set of affixes, so you just leave the game and start again, thinking "better luck next time".

As for the loot, I think I'm definitely noticing the buffs to drop rates, and items' power. Basically, before the patch, I had spent easily 30 to 40 hours farming act 1 and 2 inferno after reaching level 60, and didn't find sh!t. I had been geared up with all gear bought on the AH, and never found anything even in the same league as what I was already using, and not a single legendary. Pretty much just farmed for gold, to buy better gear.

But, since the patch, I spent probably 4 hours or so the other night, farming the same areas of act 1 that I had before. And in that time, I replaced half my gear with new stuff I found myself, including a legendary shield that dropped from an elite mob before I even hit 5 NV stacks.

Plus I gained my first paragon level. Which was, pretty much just another level. But I don't mind that. Essentially, they just nearly tripled the level cap, and after level 60, the next 100 increase base Magic and gold find. Just seeing the XP bar moving again is extra motivation to keep playing, and eventually, magic find rates will get much better, with more paragon levels, to the point that there's no need (or even benefit) to having MF gear. So you can change to gear that has all its stats focused on making you kill faster.

All in all, I feel pretty good about the patch, and I think it's a big step in the right direction for the game. I'm pretty sure it'll keep me playing long enough to get PVP, and then that'll be a whole other thing. Anyone else been playing again, post-patch? How do you guys feel about it?

As far as gameplay systems are concerned, this is a big step in the right direction towards Diablo 3 living up to the legacy of the Diablo name. However, in my opinion, there are certain things about this game that will never change, such as the dumb story, lackluster soundtrack (compared to D2 anyway) and the loss of the dark, occult tinged atmosphere of the first 2 games. It's because of these that I believe D3 will never be quite as good as it's predecessors, but eventually I think the game will perfect it's game mechanics and become an awesome game in it's own right.

I have played and beaten Dark Souls on PS3. These porting issues for the PC version are unacceptable. You have no standards if you think this a fine port. Problems with the framerate, locked resolution, GFWL, NO MOUSE AND KEYBOARD PROMPTS. Seriously, when was the last time a game was ported to the PC and had only 360 button prompts? If you think developers deserve any sort of praise or forgiveness for this port...then I think your're an idiot.

JangoWuzHere

And if you think your "you have no standards" crap holds any weight, then I think you are a complete idiot with his head up his butt. How's that?

I beat it on Xbox 360 earlier this year, and I'm buying it again for my PC. Why? Because it is, in my opinion anway, one of the most engrossing, satisfying games I have ever played, in the same league at Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Half-Life 2. The Metroidvania style exploration mixed with a great stat-based leveling system and original "souls" experience system gives it a flavor of its own, and the art style is incredible. The difficulty is nothing but a love letter to old-school gamers who appreciate a challenge. You will die a lot, but you will know why you died and you learn patterns from your enemies, where traps are, and better ways to traverse this dark and unforgiving world. Whenever I get the chance I love to tell people about this game and why they should at least try it if they are old-school gamers.

The PC port could have been better, but if you can look past the low res textures and Windows Live implementation and play it with a good gamepad, you'll find it's a truly excellent game. I'm a PC gamer through and through, but sometimes you gotta know when it's worth looking past minor blemishes and just enjoy the damn thing.

Prepare for a barrage of the usual, "crappy port, won't play because no keyboard and mouse"

Yup, fully expecting it, I just laugh because their close-mindedness is keeping them from enjoying a great game. Oh well, their loss.
