@CHJL The bit about 720p and 30fps maximum is an oddly resilient rumor, and not supported by Namco's official statements - they simply said, which came through poorly in translation, that Dark Souls PC would lack some features of more sophisticated port jobs, and would not feature new textures for PC. But yes, a Steam release with GFWL multiplayer has been confirmed.

I only pick up DLC at least 75% off on Steam sales, otherwise I feel like I'm wasting my money.

But JC2's guns and car DLC were actually a nice addition, I didn't think they were pointless. Rico's gun and the black muscle car fit perfectly in the game.

@DONTMAKEFUNGAME @felakuti4life Oh yeah, he was totally unprepared, I'm just biased because I happen to agree with him.

The problem is they pussyfooted around the issue, which was the current state of military shooters, and instead the dev had the practical argument of, well this is our game, so suck it up.

Right argument for the wrong time and place, I guess.

@psuedospike Who is he? He's a game journalist, and bringing up uncomfortable topics and sticking to your opinion is a vital part of journalism, unless you're in Soviet Russia.

@felakuti4life Wow, you hit the nail on the head. Also, I believe that people and artists too often ignore the other trend, that life imitates art more than we want to admit. They feed off of each other in a muddy undefinable way, and this is why there are guys who want to enlist because they loved COD. Not most of them thankfully! But military shooters do necessarily paint a skewed view of war for the sake of fun, what Tom was trying to bring to the surface.

And seriously, Tom haters saying he should be fired, you're not cool, so jump off the bandwagon. I'd love to see any of you in his place and keep your cool like he did without the comfort of a screen name at a hectic place like E3.

@riotinto876 That's what this whole video/argument/issue boils down to as I see it. :)

Just that no one wants to actually come out and say it.

@Garforth To me they're synonyms, but with different connotations, as synonyms never mean the exact same thing. Realism in games is more general, and has come to mean making you feel as if you're in a real situation, while authenticity talks more about objects and visuals, good mimicking of an original, or indistinguishable from the original. Or as in art, authentic could mean that it IS an original, IE not fake. However, that's just my viewpoint, and it's probably too subtle and recent a difference to be accepted by everyone.

It took them an entire video to agree that the difference btw. realism and authenticity is opinion and semantics, and bring out their real opinions about games vs. reality. I don't see that as constructive because we know their opinions already, the dev is trying to make a big budget game by presenting the game as better and more of what we already know (for example, a better story), but not too unique to be a bad business risk, and he's trying to bring in a paycheck. But the idealistic journalist wishes the developer would take more risks, as all other journalists with vision do. One big jump ahead would be to do something different from regen health, but, as they've shown with MOH 2010, this developer isn't the kind to take that big a risk.

It's just another battle between developer and journalist ideals! They each have their part in the industry, nothing really new here.

And sorry I just jumped into the video, so I didn't catch the other parts of your discussion, this is just my 2 cents.
