@nionthrie: This doesn't really fit your description, but I always enjoyed Rollercoaster Tycoon. Relaxing, and creative. On the more expository side you have the Myst series, and Syberia. These are all on the older side, but should still bring some good fun and be inexpensive at this point.
This would just be seen as a political statement and do nothing for the story. As a person who was in marketing, it is never a good idea to alienate a section of your possible sales base.

Camera angle issues and ran into a lot of bugs. But great game. Not a 10 like many have given it as a 10 is "perfect", and the 2 items alone keep it from that for me. But one of the better games I have played.
@nygamespotter: Not sure about light years ahead. Blizzard has done a good job of high rated games. I know we all like different things, but I still don't get the GTA craze.
