I've owned a 360 since 2006 (two actually, the first died in 2008, but my current one has been running strong for over 5 years and should be bronzed in MS Hall of Fame). So, I may be a little biased, but the debate between the XB1 and PS4 has been difficult. Maybe you feel the same, but I've been trying to do a little research and end up with more questions than answers. So I'm turning to the community for help, because I'm sure you are more educated on this than I am. I don't know what to get in November, and I guess there are three options...1) suck it up and get the XB1, 2) do the unthinkable and get a PS4, or 3) just hang with the 360, even though it's starting to boot me off of Live every 20 minutes. I have some information that may, to quote Jerry McGuire, "help me, help you".

  • I have a pretty reliable internet connection and play multiplayer a lot, although Live has been really tempermental for me lately
  • I use 360 for gaming, but also enjoy apps like Youtube, last.fm, and Netflix
  • Love FPS, sports, and open-world games
  • I don't connect every day, as family and job doesn't permit me to sit on my butt and play all the time. Mostly a weekend gamer, and the whole connectivity debate has me worried
  • I don't currently have a Kinect, but with a wife who loves Zumba and twin two-year olds, I think this would be a great addition
  • I'm not a fanboy (or a boy for that matter, I'm a grown man) and want the best product available. By the way, I live in the US, so the price is what it is
  • I'm not getting both, I'm not made of money

So, based on what you know, what would be best for me?

I got the same thing. I was playing COD4 and the colors went weird, so I turned it off and turned it back on, only to get no picture or sound. I've had my 360 since November 2006, so I can't really complain, but I have no warranty because it's not giving me RROD. I am now faced with getting it repaired for $100 or going out and getting a new system.

I personally don't think they will make a new one for awhile. I really think the 360 is the "Nintendo" of this generation, because it still has so much potential and has introduced so many people to online gaming. I know the problems Microsoft is dealing with because of the RROD and other issues, but they won't even think about releasing something else until this stops selling. I know...I'll be called stupid for assuming that, but it's popularity continues to increase. I personally think whenever they get bored and decide to develop a new system it should be XBox^3 (without the carrot, I can't do exponents on here), because that would look really cool on a box. It's a pain in the butt to say (XBox to the third power, or XBox cubed), but it would be a sweet logo. We could refer to it as "The Third", and crash symbols after we say it. Either that or call it XBox: Optimus Prime Edition. OK, I've had way too much coffee.

It's a great game, but it's repetitive. You find yourself doing a lot of the same stuff, but there's lots of chance for discovery and the online play is pretty cool. It takes a lot of time to get the Elite License and the online challenges, but I think it's very entertaining. Get it!

You can add me too. I'm 26 (27 in July). Quick story...I teach 6th grade, and I mentioned something in class about Dawson's Creek, and it was like crickets chirping in the room. Then a kid goes, "What's that?" *sigh*

I think the bottom line is that people don't find kids annoying, it's annoying people that they find annoying. I've played with kids that are really cool and I've played with kids that sing throughout an entire game. But, there are adults in both categories too. Maybe I'm more easy-going about it because I teach 6th grade for a living, but I don't think its kids that are annoying; it's behavior like singing, swearing profusely, racial slurs, etc. that some kids AND adults are guilty of. I tend to agree that we should be aware of the fact that there is a rating on the particular game and some parents should be more cognisant of that. However, that's a parental decision and I'm getting off-topic. Kids are fine, as long as they just play the game...same thing with adults.

I forgot to mention, so far Burnout Paradise has been fairly easy. There are some difficult achievements on it, but there's a lot of really easy ones too.

Fight Night Round 3; on Live Arcade it would be Paperboy.
