@EscapeArtist44: Well that has exactly nothing to do with my point. There really is no excuse (other than for woke ideology) to make any video game character, that is canonically meant to be attractive, ugly on purpose. You do agree with that, right?

@Lunatic420s: It is strange they made her look this way, since in the comic she is supposed to be "unattainable" hot. It is 2023 I 'spose, so makes sense. I mean imagine having hot women in video games. That's so 2000's. Ugly is the new beautiful.

This is a smart show. It's technically "woke", in that it creates allegories with real-world issues (e.g. bulimia, self-harming, mental illness, gender dysphoria etc) and blending them as part of super powers. While that sound's cringe, it mostly works and the characters are well-written and fleshed out. So far worth a watch.

@gio-007-xbl: Most older monitors (let alone TV screens) won't sync to 45 fps (=Hz) unless you have a "Freesync" or "G-Sync" compatible setup - and that isn't even a thing for consoles regardless. Instead, you will get massive screen "tearing" that will force you to turn on V-Sync (if it isn't already forced on by default) which will simply drop the refresh back to 30 Hz fps anyway (or the next lowest frame rate your monitor/TV will sync to).

@skritch: Well, there are scholarships for the best and brightest (even in the most prestigious universities), so if you are truly gifted, you will get your free education. That said, there seem to be more scholarships given to those who are good at sports (despite being dumb as bricks). Ripe material to gratuitously exploit in a good Saint's Row game, which this isn't.

@teshammutna: From the devs: “We love [the old Saints Row games], but we also recognize those are games of a time. They made sense within that era, and we were able to do things that felt good back then. But that tone is not something that we feel like we want to do today. We had a different kind of story that we wanted to tell.”

The story itself of course is a thinly veiled criticism of capitalism, waffling on about student loans which is something that is entirely voluntary (i.e. complaining your $100K college debt for social studies isn't getting you any jobs). No one in the US is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to take on debt you can't repay.

That said, even with that setup a great non-woke plot thread that would be in the spirit of the previous games, would be if the Saints blew up the universities/colleges and banks that ripped them off for useless tertiary education. Pretty sure that doesn't happen in this game, but something that could easily have happened in SR2.

Wow, they really think there is a long-term market for a woke hipster Saint's Row game. I wish the devs luck (they're going to need it). BTW, SR2 (with the Gentlemen of the Row mod) is still the best SR.

@Jaxith: Presumably the money is being spent on the game's development. I'm sure some of the execs are getting a very nice salary though in the meantime. I maintain that the game does come out eventually. Whether it lives up to the hype (let alone the amount spent on it) remains to be seen.

@Akriel_Boulve: They did give those though! They came and went, and no-one seemed to care.
