[QUOTE="mark30001"][QUOTE="Luncbox1"] Not all scientific studies are run by the corporate fat-cats trying to covet their money. The unbiased and fair scientific studies say the exact same thing-- no evidence to support negative effects. thepwninator
There are known food coloring that have been banned and known to cause all sorts of things from kidney failure to cancer, Which is why they were banned. Now imagine the others that dont get banned are still being consumed by people. I mean sure its hard to prove that food coloring or a substance called Monosodium Glutamate can cause cancer, but is it really that hard to believe?

Wow.

Just...

Wow.

Just because it has a chemical-sounding name doesn't mean it's toxic.

Allow me to point you to adenosine-triphosphate. Sound dangerous? It's absolutely necessary in cell metabolism. Without it, we wouldn't be able to survive for more than a minute.

MSG has been tested rather extensively, and there are no actual health problems found because of it.

--------

I, for one, prefer facts over speculation.

Since when did I start talking about me being afraid of msg because of its name? Actually msg sounds quite harmless, but hiding it in my food makes me doubt it's so called "safeness". As far as I know adenosine-triphosphate is't added in my food purposely. ATP is naturaly found in cells and all that, but I doubt msg is. Look at alot of medications, they have alot of side effects and your telling me msg doesn't have any side effects whatsoever? Obvoisuly your scared to believe that everything you may eat may contain msg, so you go on with reasons to believe that its safe.

[QUOTE="mark30001"][QUOTE=""] What I'm saying is that just because something that is advertise-able as "bad" doesn't mean that it, in fact, is. In Europe, many countries do not allow genetically engineered crops to be produced for consumption, but there are no health risks associated with them. Why are they illegal then? Because the public thinks they're bad for you, even though they're not.

As PBSnipes said, there aren't any known health risks associated with it. The stuff just tastes bad with soda.

Ok, but how do we know that genetically engineered crops aren't bad for us? I mean most things that are not natural are bad for us, and there are even somethings natural but bad for us. People get money off of sick people, so if someone supposedly gets sick from msg or whatever, thats going to make them money. Alot of people have thier money invested in these companies. So I wouldn't doubt they would make something about how there are no negative side effects from msg just to keep money in their pockets

You do realize there is no scientific proof MSG has any negative effects (or rather, not the negative effects most attribute with MSG)? Besides, I'd say the majority of Americans have more important health issues than their MSG intake.

thepwninator

If their are no negative effect from MSG, then why do companies continually hide it in their products and under different names? They've gone as far as to hide it within other ingredients. Think about it man, you eat a can of soup and it has msg, now imagine if you ate a bunch of other things and they also contained msg. Now wouldnt that be alot of msg in your body? I dont think alot of that is good for the body.

You can eat a can of soup and it has dihydrogen monoxide-a chemical proven to be necessary in the growth of cancer cells and virtually all infections-but they call it "water".

Ok I have to say that pictures funny and all, but I wish you were more straight forward with what your trying to say.

I live in the USA, and it seems everything I see at the store seems to have msg and/or high fructose corn syrup. I mean I litteraly see it in everything. Now it cant be as good as some people make it out to be, because why else would companies hide msg in many different names? I would very much appreciate it if people would please sign this petition to send to the FDA. I think if enough people sign it, the FDA will relize how many people understand this stuff is in their food and drinks.

http://www.petitiononline.com/hidenmsg/petition.html

These OFTEN contain MSG or create MSG during processing (100% MSG):

Glutamate
Glutamic acid
Gelatin
Monosodium glutamate
Calcium caseinate
Textured protein
Monopotassium glutamate
Sodium caseinate
Yeast nutrient
Yeast extract
Yeast food
Autolyzed yeast
Hydrolyzed protein (any protein that is hydrolyzed)
Hydrolyzed corn gluten
Natrium glutamate

More information is on the petition. Im not saying msg will kill you, im just saying I dont like being tricked into having this substance in almost everything I consume.
