I have and always will favor the original exchange, but the new dialog is perfectly fine and still captures the tone (if not the bite) -- hardly a deal-breaker.

@anonymous81: This has irked me slightly as well. In Shenmue's case, I think "Shenmue HD" fits the bill, forgoing the "remaster" or "remake" categorization. To me, a remake is a completely new product, like Square's upcoming FFVII remake, scrapping core, foundational elements from the original product. I consider a remaster something along the lines of PS4's Shadow of the Colossus or N-Sane Trilogy, where we have not only an audio/visual "modernization" but also a rework, to some degree, of some of the integral components of the original game, while keeping the bones.

But neither of these examples is the case for Shenmue; here it's just some modern, high-def polishing, so my prerogative is not to apply either the "remaster" or "remake" labels, and simply stick with "HD".

What's the background jingle playing in the video review, with the flute and piano? It's nice and sounds a bit like something from FFIV.

@lavamelon: I can't connect your counter-example with the original post, but I agree, I think it's a nice gesture. When it's yukushi's turn (if it hasn't happened already), then s/he can do it in a private, more personal setting, which is also nice. Different strokes for different folks, and that's OK.

@frank_castle: Although I'm a huge fan of Blade Runner, fellow BR fans cannot deny that it does not have mass appeal, and that's not because the masses are dumb or ignorant; it's because some parts of the film are a little on the rough side. It doesn't fit the classical sci-fi skeleton, which is fine, but it also hasn't aged well -- not just technologically, either: the acting is subpar (save for Ford, I think), the genetic jargon is nonsense, the dialogue can be outright stupid, and, most importantly, it's not as deep as people (or it) think(/s) it is.

It's a great movie for feels, and it's got depth, beautiful atmosphere, a great narrative, and a gorgeous soundtrack. But it's not for everyone.

@uncle5555: So true. I think the SNES and the GC have more good titles to offer than the N64.

@Grenadeh: That's really interesting. I had the exact opposite experience. Dante's Inferno was just mundane in that one can keep doing the exact same things over and over. All it takes is patience. I was quicker on my feet with NG and NG2.

Brilliantly hard game. Ninja Gaiden was basically the Dark Souls of the time.

@ikcizokm: Nah. You'll still get the appropriate resolution for either application. Just keep in mind the different aspect ratios between them.
