I hear Heroes of Stalingrad willl have a actual single player campagin where you can play as either Russians or Germans, with a storyline and cut scenes and all that.    Be interesting, first FPS that lets you play as the Germans.

Did you try patching the game?  I didn't have many problems with it after updating, and doing a little trouble shooting.    Im looking forward to the Kursk '43 expansion being released at Tanksim :)

Some other tank games I would recommend checking out if you don't mind playing sims too are Panzer Elite Special Edition (2001), WWII Battletanks T-34 vs Tiger ( 2008 )(although short single player I belive some custom missions will be popping up soon. ) and Steel Fury: Kharkov.    All three are quite fun and immersive.

I rated sharp shooter II and Battle for the Pacific as good because I found them pretty enjoyable games.   For what I payed for them (under $10) I got my money worth with both of them.  I consider them fun in between games for major titles and don't rate them like I would a full price game but in comparision to other budget games I have played.   I also just beat East Front/ West Front, and liked that as well.   The squad AI implemented in these games is far better then that the previous city WWII titles, and although way too short to be sold as seperate games the 2 games together made for a decent and varied campaign.  Remind me of playing COD2. :)

As for the captured german troops in Stalin subway you either played a different version or didn't notice them because they where all over.  :P    They are ussually found around levels digging with shovels, and have their grey field uniforms on with no helmets and there are dark spots on the uniforms where the patches used to be but where ripped off.  They also speak German when you approch them.    Perhaps you are a little burnt out from playing so many new games to notice some of these little touches in these crap budget titles. lol:)

Well ive been rolling though my WWII RTS marathon and also dusting off and beating some older games I havnt played before my new PC arrives to mix things up a little. Recently finished the following games:

Desert Rats vs. Afrika Korps (PC) - Good fun RTS about the North African theater.

Marine Sharpshooter II: Jungle Warfare (PC) - Decent fun for a budget title. Did a review for it.

Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 (PC) - Nice change of pace for me and for its time very impressive. Perfect ammount of challenge too and great graphics.

Stalingrad (PC) - A great depiction of the Battle of Stalingrad using the origional Blitzkrieg engine.

The Stalin Subway (PC) - this FPS from Russia was ok with decent graphics but it was monotonous and fairly bland. The dialog didnt synch up with the cut scenes either. Takes place in early 1950's Moscow. One entertaining aspect of this game is when you come across captured wehrmacht soldiers working in Stalin's forced labor camps captured during WWII. They are harmless and simply state something in German when you talk to them but it was interesting to see them in the game.
