Yeah i completely agree with you there, microsoft are shocking at understanding and communicating with consumer, they always have been. They are digging an increasingly deeper hole for themselves with every comment they make.
Im just saying that its understandable why both companies have decided not to focus on backwards compatibilty, there are plenty of other things to yell at microsoft for. For example the lack of games at an event which only gamers would make the effort to watch.
That isnt the case at all and the fact that you think Microsoft would be stupid enough to base a decision this big on something that small shows you have no real insight into the industry.
Although Microsoft are doing a pretty shocking job at addressing this fully and clearly pulling irrelevant statistics to back themselves up, i can actually understand that this was a difficult decision that both them and sony have had to make, this is a new generation with new tech and to make the leap forward we are all expecting from these consoles possible they cannot afford to be focusing on making the old tech compatible.
This is a sacrifice that has been made to help push the new generation to the level we all want to see and although I'm not the biggest Microsoft fan at the moment, i still find it a little shallow minded to base your decicions about a console on whether it will be compatible with the old tech.
Things become obsolete, if they didnt we would never have progressed to this stage, people just have to deal with that
@mjswooosh @mr_england i agree with this, a game i purchase is mine to do with what i please, whether that be lending it to friends or trading it in for a second hand game, i can understand the fact that developers don't want their games burned and copied, but there are better ways to punish a minority of people who do that, DVD's that are burned can now be muted so no sound can be transferred to the copy, so why cant a similar thing be done with games.
Surely a better way to go about it is to charge the retailer a little for the sale of second hand games, they will hike up the prices a little bit sure, but i am quite happy to pay a bit extra for a second hand game which is then my property to use as i see fit.
This is just about the rights a consumer holds over the products they purchase, nothing more, nothing sinister, if i pay for it i expect it to be my property.
@grey_fox1984 @lindenwilkinson it just all felt a little rushed to me but as you say there are so many stories which could be told inside the resistance universe, be a shame for it to go to waste! hopefully insomniac will push the boat out for next gen and start off strong as they did with ps3
The ending to the 3rd entry was a bit inconclusive, probably to leave it open for a 4th, but it would be a shame to see it end on that note, especially because the entire history behind the series was put together so well and made to be really believable. what was pretty frustrating was the lack of reference to hale and his transformation.
I hope they do a 4th entry at some point to conclude what was a pretty amazing series but based on the sales of Resistance 3 its unlikely.
