This is how MMOs are. You can never EVER simulate the hundreds of thousands of hits on your servers through any amount of stress testing. You just need to go live.

Damn, give Rockstar some slack. They just released it today, of course the servers might be unstable for a while because of the server traffic.

What doesn't make sense is that it works fine for some people, just like the camera photo storage and social club stuff, and not so much for others. I've got people on my friends list who've been playing it since this morning with no problems, and others who can't get sh*t.
Usually when online multiplayer games don't have betas, they turn out to be crapola like this.
Yeah, the photo app is kinda a bummer. And I agree that they should've released a beta for private people or something.
