Really surprised this didn't sink. Still, I'll wait till it hits the bargain bin.

It's a game franchise that always highlighted it was alpha male. It never pretended to be anything else. When 3 had you playing as Anya all I thought was "marketing ploy" to grab more people to the franchise.

Lets hope there isn't any glitches this time! There was a good game to be had with the las Vegas game, but the glitches were too bad to look past.

@jonmar @Leejjohno @killip Are you a troll? A Hypster? What are you? Because anyone with half a brain knows that if you were round at that time (I assume you were?) The horror genre was terribly dull. Even Resident Evil ran its course with the mechanics on offer. Yes, all the old Resi games are genius, but they were showing age.

What you are saying is Resident Evil 4 is an overrated mess? This makes me think you weren't around at that time (too busy playing with lego and going to nursery.) Resident Evil 4 was the first of its kind. There was no game at the time that worked how RE4 did. Fluid controls, and an immense feel of weight behind the guns you were using, mixing horror (mainly horror I might add) with action. It was so different at the time. And anyone not giving this game the credit it rightfully deserves is either a troll, or was never there when it happened.

What Resident Evil 4 did here after is get a load of mindless developers copying the style. Here we are nearly a decade on and developers are STILL using it as a template. And I doubt anything will change in this dull industry we are all involved in these days till one of a handful of genuis' left in the industry like Shinji Mikami, Suda 51, Swery 65, Hideo Kojima decide to come up with a new and inventive way to play games. Then after they make the next revoluionary masterpiece we can wait another ten years till it's been used to death. Then I'll come on here and see you saying that was an overrated peice of crap aswell...

If you actually read the first comment you'd have read that I said the genre needs new ideas.

The industry works like any other: developer takes a risk and revolutionizes games forever; other developers see the success and carbon copy it.

Resident Evil 5 and 6 weren't that good. They don't have any relevant ideas that make it stand on it's own. And as I said, the industry is fu*ked with games like CoD, because there isn't half as many developers wanting to take risks.

You really haven't a clue have you? Yeah, I saw the early stages of Resi 4 BEFORE Shinji came back to it. You know what it was?

MORE OF THE SAME.

It was the same stale crap people had been playing since 1996, only there were ghost type monsters.

Things have to change. The genre had to move on. You like the old survival game, play them. But paying £40 for a game that is exactly the same as everything else, isn't something I'd be happy with. It's why the industry is in such a stale fu*king state, with developers not taking any risks anymore.

@GamerOuTLaWz

Why so much hate for this game?

Look at it this way: the year is 2004; the survival horror genre is extremely stale, with minimal new ideas being put into the games and the genre as a whole was not moving at all.

Resident Evil 4 was the evolutionary step forward. It might not have been the full on horror game fans were used to, but the in-your-face, think fast gameplay was something very new and very much needed at the time.

Shinji Mikami almost single handedly made survival horror (with the exceptions of Alone in the Dark), watched it go stale, and revolutionized it again.

Horror games are back at the decade dead end stage where it needs another boost, because horror games have used Resi 4 as the template for too long.

The point I'm getting at is Resident Evil 4 is very much the classic everyone raves about. It changed the face of games forever, and I find your lack of respect disturbing.
