Funny how folks like you like to pretend the handheld gaming market doesn't count despite the fact Nintendo has dominated the handheld market since the start. Microsoft won't even touch it and Sony's failed miserably. Funny how we bag on the WiiU for selling bad but won't dare bag on the Vita for getting killed by Nintendo. You know the Vita's selling bad if Sony's resorting to making mobile games like that Uncharted mobile app.
@superhippy420 Well it's amusing that when game sites talk about sales, they tend to skew things in certain ways. When the Wii was killing the 360 and PS3 in sales, it wasn't considered "a real game console" but something else. During the short time when the PSP was outselling the DS, game journalists made a big stink about handhelds. Now the 3DS is outselling the Vita but all they want to focus on is "console wars." Even if the WiiU sales stink, they make plenty from 3DS sales much like Microsoft is using Android Profits to hide console sale losses. Funny how game journalists gloss over stuff like that.
I find it amusing as this is coming from the site that fired Jeff Gertsman because Eidos wasn't happy with his review of Kane and Lynch. Look it up newbies.
@Cashmoney007 No, you see, there are early console adopters who went and spent $400-$500 on shiny new consoles with mostly medicore launch games and now stuck with big hunks of plastic waiting around for something killer to play for them thanks to no backwards compatatbility. Meanwhile PC gamers are enjoying a lot of good, cheap games on something that is backwards compatable.
I am gravitating more to PC gaming, now if my husband would let me get a traditional controller to play stuff but he insists I be a "pure" PC gamer and play everything with the keyboard and mouse. Fine for FPSes and RTSes but not the best for a platformer or racing game. :(
@Spam_Pics I think they could make it work. They could have a Party mode where four friends choose a board and play or "quick play" where people could pick mini games at random to play once online for a quick game. But I do see a lot of disconnect problems or people dropping out as soon as they start losing.
But honestly there's all these mini game collections out there and almost NONE of them have online play.
@Planeforger @thatguy2001 I agree, they backed off on the MP last gen. Early in the Wiis life they had one, but we didn't see another MP until close to the end of it's life cycle. Namely I think it was due to the fact there were so many party games on the Wii as well as the Olympic collaborations with Sonic though I still figure in another year or so, we'll see Mario Party U.
I sort of get why they gave it the score they did. 1) while they got the fighting mechanics down pat which is important but it has bare bones content. 2) There's a lot of beloved KI characters left out. Why? So they can nickel and dime you for DLC ones. Wanted to play as Riptor (my favorite)? Too bad. You'll have to wait and pay $5. I'm sick of fighting games releasing with smaller rosters, just to squeeze money out of us for characters that should've been in the game in the first place. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 did this too. I mean I know modes were probably sacrificed to have it ready for launch and at least it's still Killer Instinct and they didn't just copy/paste the characters into some other game and pass it off as a sequel (*coughbanjonutsandboltscough*)
