Yeah, I think what seems like maybe 12 - 18 months ago now, TV.com actually did another redesign (and at that point, I'm surprised company workers are even still bothering to throw new designs on that site now.) And the current redesign is the worst yet, now you can't even see what emblems users have anymore, no blogs, and other stats are missing like site contributions.

While TV show forums still appear to be around, last I checked, the community forums actually became non-existent.

And does TV.com even have moderators and administrators patrolling the site anymore? Sure doesn't look like it. I know there's no more moderators, but there still might be a few unknown administrators still checking in.

Oddly enough, if you scroll down the bottom of the front page, you can still access the old traditional forums. You can see a list of all the community forums along with the post counts of each board, but you can't access them. Very odd.

I'm sure that the site still has moderators, but there doesn't appear to be anything that distinguishes them from an ordinary user. As long as the site allows users to edit show guides, then there is at the very least one person checking everything.

If this means it will be easier to find proper fitting pants, then I'm all for it.

Maybe inaccurate post counts are the reason why TV.com moved away from traditional forums. It looks like PMs from before 2013 are being removed to relieve stress on the servers...it might be a matter of time before they decide to delete the old forums.

They should delete the site while they're at it, lol. But really though, it needs that revival like Toph said.

Unfortunately, I don't think it can be revived. It needs some groundbreaking new feature to get people's attention. I normally just use Google to find information that I am looking for on a show. When I search for an episode list for a show and TV.com doesn't appear on the first page, there is a problem. Having a place to talk about TV just isn't enough anymore. Reddit has become my go-to place for discussing shows.

"If you post it, they will come", the tagline to Kevin Costner's new movie Forum of Dreams.

That's exactly how this thread got more activity again funny enough. Also, I never heard of that movie until now.

I think Field of Dreams might be the only Kevin Costner movie I have watched. I have watched the WaterWorld stunt show at Universal Studios if that counts for anything :P

So I logged into my account to see what has changed. I couldn't even find the traditional forums. I had to go to my profile and go through my post history to access them. Post counts are still messed up from the last time I logged in a couple of years ago. My post count keeps jumping from 12k posts to 20k posts. I don't even remember what my post count was so I don't know if 12k even accurate. Did find an old thread where you happened to post, does your post count look right?

Weird, I had 20k posts on that site, odd it's only showing 2k.

I've been lurking from time to time. It always seems like whenever I browse the forums no one has posted in RC for hours. Like what am I supposed to do, ask if anyone is here? :P

Yes, that's exactly what you do, you wonder who's out there and then they will come...hopefully. If they don't come it's usually their fault.=p

I used to get modded there plenty of times because I told some people they have shit taste in certain shows. I was kind of surprised why I was never banned or even suspended for that matter, though I'll admit that I was an idiot sometimes if not most of the time but we all "start off" somewhere in our young teen years. I stopped logging in back in 2010. It's pretty much dead now.

Yeah, back then (though I think even now TV.com might still have the same rules) TV.com's rules definitely felt rather too restrictive and too enforced. I definitely think there is such a thing as having too many rules, and its not really that great for a site to have wicked enforced rules, because that can easily open ways to commonly getting posts modded for petty and unnecessary reasons. (like having a post be on-topic, but still gets deleted anyway, just because one minor sentence sort of strays from the topic.)

To be honest, when you think about it, it sounds like TV.com is a lot like Gamefaqs where I hear that site too stuff gets moderated for stupid reasons.

It's kind of crazy how strict TV.com became. For a while the Off-Topic board was filled with nothing, but "game threads" such and "bored threads" which were the equivalent of GameSpot's Roll Call threads. Once they started cracking down on those posts, it seemed like there was a drop in activity (even though the site was not that active to begin with). I would have stuck around to make contributions to the show/episode guides, but the layout became increasingly worse.
