[QUOTE="jimmygrace"]In reply to cobrax80, Pokemon sells to the same audience that buys nothing but games like Mario Party, Wii Play, and Mario sports titles.Nintendo is basicially making all their games torwards 1 demographic, they have enough for that demographic, they need to make games for different types of games aswell.---OkeyDokey---

you know this how?

Because thats mostly who's buying the Wii.Look at the games that sell, Wii Play and Mario Party 8.Family games.

thats funny, zelda has sold 3.8 million copies and is the wii's best selling game. red steel is a family game :?

wii play comes with a controller as the main selling point, thats why its been in the top 10 since it came out.

mario party eh? didn't that game franchise sell in the millions on the cube and N64 too? i guess that means they had a casual userbase too then?

super paper mario has also sold 2 million copies, is that a party game? what about metroid and RE4 which are closing in on 1 million hmmmm?

Red Steel is a terrible game so anyone who bought it wasted $50.Super Paper Mario is a terrible game IMO as it brings nothing new to the table and abandons the old gameplay to appeal to casual gamers with its simplistic gameplay.RE4 is $30 and everyone has heard of the franchise by now.Metroid 3 has only sold half a million copies.

[QUOTE="jimmygrace"]I know they weren't first party but Nintendo had RARE so they had a big time company making more mature themed games for them. It's their fault that they didn't have anything in place for hardcore gamers once RARE left.cobrax80

Why look at Nintendo for hardcore games? 3rd party games are brimming with hardcore titles. And if I'm not mistaken Brawl, Galaxy, and Prime 3 are Harcore games. A new hardcore franchise is Disaster, I guess Monolith is the new RARE. Not to mention Retro Studios.

Disaster will hopefully turn out good.

[QUOTE="krp008"]Why do almost 80% of Wii games have Mario in it? Thats why ill never own a Nintendo productDaAznSaN

Yep, its the Milking process, Mario this, Mario That, mini games. I miss the Nintendo that madeSNES console, it was much much better.

Would you rather Nintendo spread the wealth around to its other franchises? Zelda Baseball? Metroid Soccer? Pikmin Party?

I think he'd rather see Nintendo concentrate on making good new franchises and stop making 39 Mario games per console. Most Nintendo fans would like that.

Nintendo are (or were before games like Pikmin and BW were already released) making new "franchises." They're trying their hand at sport games, for example. Would those games be any better without Mario and with a new set of characters? How about the Wii line of games? Would those be any better without Miis? The thing with Nintendo is they have a franchise for just about every genre of game out there. I don't see the need to make a new, say, platformer on top of their already established franchises.

Every game Nintendo makes now seems like something from a children's book.N64 was a console with PERFECT balance. You had the best console FPS's around in Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Turok, and stuff like that.Conker was great, Resident Evil 2, Mortal Kombat, and many others.Plus they had all their games like Mario Party and Pokemon to keep their family image. Now there's almost nothing but family games.

Many people fail to realise that Nintendo makes new franchises all the time but the one they always remember is mario games because the other franchises don't stay in people's mind. Like pikmin, wiisports, excitruck, disaster, battalion wars, ect.

Battalion Wars was too kiddie. It had potential to be a good action game but the style and presentation didn't take the nature of the genre serious at all.Pikmin is also kiddie.Wii Sports is bad IMO.I'd much rather play a real sports title over that or Mario sports games.Excite Truck was just a bad game, plain and simple. As for Disaster, I just hope this one turns out as good as it looks.

Halo 3 is just a great game that is both hardcore and casual.Just like GTA, Mario platformers, and Smash Bros, some great games are actually noticed by the mainstream aduience.
