Too bad, i very abruptly stopped playing since the release of patch 1.1. I'm not willing to continue spending my time on a game where the developers are actively strategizing to push players towards seasonal content.
I'm not a D4 content creator, and I don't get off on having to create a new character from scratch every few months or talking/analyzing about upcoming nerfs/buffs/meta. I understand that this is content for many youtubers, but as a player, I find this frustrating.
already midway through. I agree with the negative point of the review where looking for health/armour pickups is a dated mechanic. I feel this disrupts the flow alot. Granted, this was the way OG Doom was back then, but by contemporary standards, it's really a chore. Some enemies take a huge chunk off your health, and you basically have to run for your life in search of health. It also doesn't help that many of the Nurglings appear (somewhat) out of nowhere to stab you in the back.
Wasn't this on Gamepass? So how many copies was Microsoft expecting to 'sell'? I for one, bought it on Steam, but one would think that once a game appears on Gamepass, the number of units sold ceases to be a topic for discussion.
I don't think so, since Ezra Miller ended up getting a get-out-of-jail card. He....or 'they' are of the same ilk as Jonathan Majors, but WB doubled down on Miller. So now, i don't think DC is feeling the same way.
Xbox had a mediocre 2022, as if this hasn't been the running pattern for Xbox most years, ever since after the 360. Again it's the "just you wait" notion. Feels like I've been hearing this for a decade or so.
I enjoyed this game nearly as much as I enjoyed XCOM: Chimera Squad, particularly the combat - thinking and strategizing the perfect sequence of actions to get the best possible outcome.
What I didn't like was the dialog - hearing cringeworthy banter from Tony Stark, Dr. Strange, Peter Parker or nearly any other hero in a cutscene consisting of substandard character models which look like they were taken from 2009 isn't cool at all. At least if the models were at the level of Horizon: Forbidden West, I could savor the visuals and ignore the dialog. Can't do that here.
The style of the protagonist is very japanesy, like a Ronin. The way he holds the sword and the way he moves is very samurai/shinobi-like. Doesn't give off a Chinese vibe.
I think this is a game that really wanted to be presented as having deep lore and great story telling, but imo it was a generic story with generic lore and the point of the game was exploration and combat first. And I chased down the lore because i wanted to experience it but nothing really hit me as anything too deep or interesting. It was just kind of there. But again, imo its not the point of these games anyways. Most people play to brag about beating hard bosses and don't even care about the lore. I've been hearing certain fans talk about the lore of all soulslikes and I've played all the Souls games, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring to completion and have no idea what they are talking about.
The same can be said about almost every From Software game. Every Souls game since Demon's Souls had some story about a monarch (or monarchs) who ushered in an age of prosperity, which eventually went downhill, and everything got F'ed up. And so, it's left to a nobody like you to pick up the pieces and either continue the cycle, or break it completely. That's the broad stroke anyway. The depth, if any at all, is in the micro-details
