I have to say, and not happily, we're pretty much already there. Having a disc is meaningless when an online check in is required to run the software. The games I truly own are from before the last generation and anything bought for pc through steam or some other launcher are subject to drm checks. While you can run them offline for a limited time they will be disabled if you go too long. Then there's the push to make even single player games require an internet connection because everything has to be a live service.

Exactly. What is ownership nowadays? You can own the disc of Diablo 4, but Blizzard can decide to shut down Bnet one day. Why is this suddenly an issue? Just because Ubisoft made their intention more explicit?

GS is twisting Ubisoft words. They are merely saying that consumers have to get comfortable not owning games for the subscription model to take off, which is true.

Ubisoft as a company, of course hopes and wants consumers to be comfortable not owning games, but that's not what was said, and GS should not put words in Ubisoft's mouth.

Who has ever checked twitter on their PS5? lol.

I think it's more about uploading your screenshots. PS5 has a very convenient screenshot feature. Only problem is once you take your screenshot, where can you upload it? Back in the day, being able to upload to Facebook was like huge bonus.

I can't even take a screenshot on my PS5 and share it to ANY social media. Not FB, not Twitter. Some social media age we live in.

lmao all these people who havent even played the game defending it are pathetic and hilarious. The reviewer is absolutely right, this game is a pathetic shell of a souls game. It lacks any sort of coherent vision besides "copy dark souls but put soul reaver in there too". The enemies you fight at the beginning of the game are the same enemies you will be fighting for the rest of the game. The level design is boring and unrewarding because most of the loot you find is just a reskinned weapon or armor or useless consumables. The game is not challenging in the slightest because they spent 10 seconds programming the AI and it's easily exploitable. The combat is some of the worst ever put in a souls like because its so floaty and the sounds and animations are just so poorly done that they aren't believable at all.

getting pretty sick of being lumped in with "gamers" when you all act so pathetically just because someone disagrees with you about a game you haven't even played yet. You're all so pathetic it hurts.

You do realize that by taking the "I'm right, you're wrong" stance, you're actually no better than the group you're criticizing? Same coin, different side.

Reviews are subjective, but this game feels like at least an 8.0 to me. The reviewer is somewhat correct in that certain levels feel like a slog. Proper vestiges at the later levels are far from each other. But i get that this was done to give weight to the Vestige Seeds. If the proper Vestiges were littered everywhere, then the Vestige Seeds will just feel like a tacked on mechanic. But I do agree that the flowerbeds are oddly placed at times, often making you regret your chosen location.

And even despite all that, some stretches still feel dragged out. Fief of the Chill Curse comes to mind. From Vestige of Svornil, the game makes you take a full loop round the mountain to finally kick down a shortcut ladder back to the vestige. And the trip round the mountain is filled with wolfs, sniper archers, and a mini boss, all without a flower bed. There was a perfect opportunity for the game to give a shortcut in the middle involving a rickety bridge blocked by rubble (which is indestructible), but they decided not to. I'm still perplexed.

This ripped the Soul clean out of Sony fanboys lol and I'm loving it all the way.

Maybe at one point in time, you would be absolutely correct. But if Starfield is a representation of what Elder Scrolls 6 is gonna be like, quality-wise....I'd say that the salt isn't quite heavy compared to what it could have been.

i haven’t given any credibility to a gamespot review in 10 years

and yet you're posting here. I prefer low scores because in the worst case scenario...I won't end up wasting my money. There's a reason why I use Gamespot as my barometer and not IGN. They are way too lenient, giving out 8s and 9s to almost any game, although not in this case.

Why does the facial quality still look like Fallout/Skyrim level ie. that blank expression look? Horizon: Forbidden West already made a big leap last year. Heck, Horizon: Zero Dawn was already better than this many years ago.

@jhcho2: Plus Baldurs Gate 3 on PC is out in full release today, so Diablo 4 is the last game on my mind. In a month Starfield is releasing as well so it looks like returning to Diablo 4 is a no go for me.

Pre-patch 1.1, I was mentally preparing myself to play Baldur's Gate 3 with some Diablo 4 on the side. Post-patch 1.1, I came to the realization that there will be nothing on the 'side'. Don't forget Fires of Rubicon during end of August. It will be non-stop gaming till Starfield.
