@Vizard666 @Grenadeh @Gam3_B0y I actually have decent knowledge of PCs and have video editing machine that would run any current game no problem because of the high specs. I choose to go console merely cause there are exclusives that can be found on consoles that are not on PC.

Why does every Nintendo copy and paste get fantastic scores yet so many other games get major hits from reviewers because it offers nothing new or fresh from the developer??

Tom mentions that people say Nintendo is making a poor mistake and that this is a "poor accusation". However, even after having read the rest of the article, he never backs up this statement to explain how or why this will be a good decision FOR Nintendo. Yes, E3 is showy and unnecessary, yes times have changed and E3 is "fat, lazy and bloated". But that's NOT the bottom line. How will the Wii U do? Yes, the Wii outsold the PS3 and Xbox360 but failed to capture hardcore gamers. The Wii U is doing poorly in terms of sales and the casual market has moved onto tablets and smartphones for their casual gaming experiences...how will Nintendo recover form this??

I'm a combination of several types you haven't mentioned yet... the "Super-Hero" (someone who plays games to "feel" awesome, doesn't enjoy games that are too tough, challenging or realistic, prefers to be a protagonist who can do crazy-cool things like a super-hero, enjoying games like infamous, Assasins Creed 2+, Batman Arkham City and games with crazy guns like Killzone 3 or Resistance 3). I'm also the "Thrill-Seeker" (someone who enjoys games that give you an adrenalin rush leading to "oh snap!" moments like Need for Speed, SSX, Burnout). I'm also someone who enjoys Creative elements, not as obsessed with building as to be playing the Sims but enjoys Halo's Forge, Modnation Racers track editor, Little Big Planet level design and Far Cry 3's map editor.

First hand "impressions" will always be an opinion. Reviews will be riddled with opinions. The latest Assassins Creed III failed to live up to many people's hype because it's somewhat empty as an open world and we realized that Assassins Creed needs cities to thrive. If it's an open world wilderness that you want Red Dead Redemption is much better. This is the nature of comparisons and contrasts.

What frustrates me is when these comparisons and contrasts seem unevenly applied. One game will get praised because it's bringing more content similar to what we loved in the previous dozen of the same series where as another sequel (and perhaps only the second in the franchise) will get bomb-basted for just being "more of the same". I think these attempts at "unbiased" remarks are what upsets communities the most. Because if you didn't like an experience, more of it will upsets you, where as if you loved the experience it's possible you'll never tire of it.

I wrote about the various opinions that shape our opinions on games about a month ago...feel free to read it here: http://www.gamespot.com/users/jasonredemption/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25998068

I think the only way we can get away from these types of things is to ask Review Writers to give us more background and perhaps more second opinions (as the writer of this article is trying to do). I state at the beginning of most of my reviews any possible background information that might be relevant...such as I love Batman or I am a huge fan of the X-Men, or I've played all the games in this franchise (and loved them) or this is my first time playing a particular game in a multi-game franchise. I also try to add comments about things that I dislike and mention that if you find these things enjoyable you'll probably like this game...sometimes as I play a game more and more I find my opinion changes. Sometimes at the outset I won't like a game so I put it down and start over later only to love it (I'm looking at you Kingdoms of Amalur). Sometimes I find myself so infatuated with the idea of a game that it takes time for me to see its flaws (I'm looking at you Assassins Creed: III). In the end I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I'm excited for this game, multiplayer map editor, open world, great gun handling, great story...sounds fantastic, just nervous cause Far Cry 2 had so much potential, but the story sucked and the constant re-spawning of bad guys was a huge turn off for me...

@warhawk-geeby EXACTLY... and well said, I think I should point out I have used GameSpot for over a decade (since I was a teenager), just seems to me that video game journalism as a whole has become more pessimistic and negative as a whole...shouldn't we all be rooting for Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony to do well? The hardcore video game market is OUR friend, to hear Disney say they will take LucasArts towards a more casual social-media spun market saddens me because that's a loss for US as GAMERS. I want the 3DS and the VITA to do WELL because that's a WIN for GAMERS everywhere, I shouldn't care about the Xbox 360 or even the Nintendo Wii U because I do not own them or plan to own them, but I still want them to do well, because that's a WIN for GAMERS.

I'm so sick and tired of reading games journalists bashing Sony for a variety of reasons...does Nintendo and Microsoft really pay them that well??
