@Yatterer: even if this was a commissioned piece it shouldn't come as a surprise. Sites like this generate some of their revenue from things like that. If it bothers you just ignore it. It helps them be able to create the other content you're here for.
@Jaykray: he helped found Microsoft, which is where he got his initial fortune before leaving to start making games and game-focused endeavors. Even at that time he describes his work as "a producer". I'm not really sure he was ever a developer or engineer of any sort. He even dropped out of college (granted he spent time at Harvard - even a few years in a place like that probably better prepares one better than four years at most other schools).
@sladakrobot: I have a feeling this generation of consoles will be far shorter than the last. In another three-ish years there will far, far more powerful and efficient SoC's and memory available for a fraction of the fabrication cost. That wasn't the case last gen. Don't be surprised if previews and details of a new Sony console surfaces in late 2018. This will be because backwards compatibility will be trivial (x86-64 ain't going nowhere). Microsoft may vacate the space entirely, shifting towards a gaming strategy centered around Live! and Windows, across a family of devices.
@not_a_sheep111: It's humorous how wrong you are. At last tally the PS4 had 323 more games:
PlayStation 4 Exclusive = 91 Sony exclusive = 98 Console exclusive = 170 (+ additional 21 timed exclusive) Multiplatform = 442 Total = 821
Xbox One Exclusive = 40 Microsoft exclusive = 9 Console exclusive or timed = 78 (+ additional 29 time exclusive) Multiplatform = 342 Total = 498
The average Metacritic score is greater for PS4 exclusives, even with there being so many more of them (having a flattening effect on the aggregate score).
Reminds me of the cover of The Last Temptation of Christ. But it probably alludes to the line from the books (if you haven't read the books, can barely recall season one of the show, and don't want to be spoiled, do not Google the following):
“Promise me, Ned,” Lyanna’s statue whispered. She wore a garland of pale blue roses, and her eyes wept blood.
I thought Kojima actually confirmed he left. Trying to salvage face in the face of bad publicity, perhaps? Should have thought about that before erasing his name from everything he created for you first, Konami.
@bobafetthatesu: every multiplatform game Microsoft rattled off is going to sell better on the PS4. Kind of funny. But for real, MS does have a better lineup this holiday season.
@rosinmonkekyx17: the vast majority of console gamers with disposable income don't bother with reviews and the like. But if Sony really wants to boost sales they'd pay to get that ad in the pre-rolls before The Force Awakens plays in major theaters. Dudes in their late twenties and thirties would be bolting straight from the theater to Gamestop, Target, etc.
@mjonk2pc: It's going to be close. The Amazon best seller list has proven to be a reliable barometer of sales, at least comparatively, and the PS4 has been winning on it cumulatively. However, the Halo 5 bundle sold a lot in preorders and those numbers will count towards the month it's released.
