i got this game from my buddy after ive seen all these reviews of how awesome it was. the PC version. when i launched it the game looked weird to me in the menus. but when i finally started it i was like wtf. it is as if they took the ps or xbox version, and printed ''PC'' on the case. i have played a lot of games, but this one is unplayable for me. yes, unplayable. maybe if i had a ps/xbox gamepad, but i dont and and i dont want to. why does this game have such a high score and on THIS site beats the hell out of me, but stay away from this crap. PC version anyway.
im aware that by proclaiming ANY game to be the greatest game of all time may cause a lot of disagreement amongst gamers. when i said it was ''once the greatest game of all times'' i didnt mean that litteraly - what i ment was, it was greatest game of all times to me. and many others. you should understand that because i dont think anyone can actually proclaim ANY game to be ''the best''.
however and i must say this since you taunted me; world of warcraft actually IS considered one of the greatest games of all times by MANY recognised independent critics. especially if you consider modern gaming era and disregard ''old school games'' like legend of zelda, super mario, half-life and such.
wow is undeniably the most succesfull mmorpg from its release date to this day. all sorts of ''wow killer'' games came during that time only to be ripped to pieces and slowly die, after they went f2p. but wow stayed. and after all those years its still here even with a subscription based business model. so even if it is not THE best game of all times, it certainly IS THE BEST MMORPG of all times even now, that glory days have passed.
so which game do you think deserves ''the greatest game of all time'' title?
wow is not only one of the greatest mmorpgs like you said, but THE greatest mmorpg still. cant argue with that, the numbers speak for themselves, although the number dropped from 12M to ''only'' 8M players in less than 2 expansions. but the reason for it in my opinion is not because wow is oh so great, but simply because the market lacks a competent competitor AND it has lots of loyal customers.
however, and thats what i was talking about, if you look back in time, back in vanilla and tbc time, you cannot possibly claim the game kept even half of its epicness, gameplay or fun if you will. it has been drastically dumbed down patch after patch to the point when you wont even have to level your character anymore. not to mention the abundace of everything in-game - from mounts to epic loot that drops from every other mob, lfr system etc etc... and in my opinion, it is very very sad, although i am aware that what this game achieved is unmatched by any other. im aware that nothing lasts forever and im aware it aint over till its over, but the epicness of say.. raiding MC with actual people that wasnt a bunch of lfr yerks back in the days is never coming back.
blizzard has made a lot of bad decisions in all these years. selling shareholds to activision aka ''merging'' being one of the worst AND gamebreaking...
...but boost to 90 and play immediately rotfl!!! is THIS what this game has been reduced to!??
what a sad epilogue to once the greatest game of all times... without a shed of mocking involved its just trully sad, but like with all things in life, all good things come to an end.
