@prickpear: the reason most entertainment media exists is so you can escape the reality of your life and get to see things you never would have been able to see in your short life as a human being. If you aren't playing games to escape reality, im presuming you are only playing arcade games like pac man, some platformers, some basic indie games, and basically anything that is just mechanical.

@Erick: im pretty sure they already know that the masses aren't going to buy it, they'd be complete idiots if they thought the general mid - low end demographic would buy it. It's pretty obvious "not aimed at you". And im pretty sure Facebook knows how to run a successful corporation. They know they're not going to make money off the product until it reaches a more reasonable price zone. Im pretty confident they have a long term plan and eventually the price will go down. They may just be waiting for the components necessary to run it are more affordable to expect making a profit ie larger number of possible comsumers and who know, maybe a partnership with nvidea and/or amd. "That's complete speculation". Facebook has big goals with it and they wont let it die easy.

Why are guys that don't even own a gaming pc, let alone one that can run the oculous, talking about the price of a high end pc "periferal". They obviously don't know how much the target audience is willing to pay. I'd assume the target is people that already are capable of running it. Who would concider paying $600 for a superior but unessacery experience yet not have been willing to spend $1200 on a capable gaming pc already. Btw, im sure there are people that have different priorities in life that are willing to upgrade as well as purchasing a rift.
