This HAS to be a way for them to regulate server traffic. There is no other explanation...
If they want to alleviate the massive amounts of wasted time that every player experienced in FFXI, then MAKE THE GAME SINGLE PLAYER FRIENDLY, or at least give players to grind/exp solo, rather than requiring them to form full groups that can take 2 hours to assemble.
I played FFXI for 7+ years, did almost everything there was to do. I was excited about FFXIV... now I'm not going to waste my money if this true.
