The flight modelling is not only terrible, but there isn't even a joystick option for PC in the controls section of the game.

For a film saga that relies so much on flight scenes and daring air and space combats, it feels as though they put the design of this part of the game in the hands of a 5 year old who has never played a game on a PC. Then, when he finished game-padding everything, he turned it over to Uncle Ben-Ben to poorly port it to PC, and we get horrible flight controls.

The least they could have done was to include PC joystick flight controls for a game where flight is such an important element. Not doing so leaves many of those who prefer having that option in a PC game feeling ripped off, especially concerning the very high pricethey paid expecting that basic option in a PC game.

I am mostly very upset at there being NO possibility of using a joystick on the PC game.

This, for me, shows a high level disrespect for traditional PC enthusiasts and looks more like a console money grab.

I don't play on consoles and do not expect to be forced to play a PC game as though it were a console port.

EA-Dice need to ALWAYS support joystick keybinding possibilities for all of their PC games.

They should NEVER demote a PC game to console gamepad only bindings for PC flight controls.

@chechak7: It is an insult for EA/DICE, and whoever else, to make any BF game for PC without joystick support for air vehicles, period.

If you watched any of the reviews of SWBF, every reviewer said the mouse controls for air vehicles are horrendous, and several said they could not understand the deplorable lack of even the possibility of joystick controls in the game. Did Logitech not agree to pay them enough money or did the extra money thrown their way turn them into consummate jerks?

This is why I am sounding the alarm bells for SWBF and any possible BF5, especially if it is the same devs bought out by console makers to dumb down the games even more as they did with SWBF.

I paid for a BF PC game with SWBF, and what I got is a BF game where I currently don't even have the option for using my PC joystick. I don't own a console gamepad and don't want one. The only alternative I have in this very expensive game I bought is to not be able to fly the air vehicles until they finally use some of the billions thrown at them to fix this problem of screwing up air vehicle play in a BF game.

Star Wars where you can't use a joystick for flying x wings and tie fighters on a PC is worse than a rip off: it is shameful.

They better fix the no joystick support in SWBF first! (unless they have done something since I last tried to get it to work)

Forcing PC users to have to endure a horrible mouse configuration for flying, or regress to extremely awkward console gamepads, when many PC players have perfectly good joysticks for flight commands is one of the biggest insults ea/dice have ever come up with toward the gaming community.

Even though I have long supported EA/Dice with the Battlefield franchise, I will no longer support their poor design and development teams when they make such colossal mistakes as including no joystick support on PC.

We were so looking forward to having fun with the aerial vehicles in SWBF, but their team has totally ruined our flight experience by not making it possible to choose/use our tried and trusted joystick flight command interface in SWBF. That is a shameful lack of customer appreciation. Sometimes the more money you throw at a project like this, the less real work gets done on the product. Shame.

Are you up for contract renewals?

It's not only EA that can get sued, you know that right?

Why the shout out to the kord?

You have done better work before.

Came here for end of year news - all we get is a wannabe-dev who has no game's to her credit as far as I know trashing anything she feels like trashing.

Please let us know what games YOU have developed and published Ms. Jess?

Don't get me wrong. If I don't like a game, I let the publisher know.

Why are you digging in the troves instead of developing a game yourself?

Thanks and cheers.

Hmmm...

Which might be a better choice for a young learner?

A keyboard and mouse, where he/she actually learns how to type and navigate on-screen interfaces that also exist in the business/professional world?

Or a gamepad that is so imprecise that is has to be bot-assisted in most cases to even function correctly compared to the keyboard and mouse configuration (aim-bots, etc.)?

BFBC2 was a fun game. I agree with a lot of what he said in the video that made it so, such as:

- destructibility, generally quick load times, varied maps, a much better rush game mode experience

- fun campaign game, parachute spawning, and a great expansion game with BFBC2 Vietnam.

However, BFBC2 did have its drawbacks as well, such as:

- squads that were way too small - only 4, servers that were way to small - maxed out at 32

- probably the worst helicopter controls of any BF game I have played in (have played them all)

- possibly the worst and most unrealistic effects in hardcore - prime example: an $8.6 million modern tank that has worse vision restrictions than a WW1 Mark V. Hardcore or not, a modern army is not going to allow all of its tanks to run around getting blown up because they basically can't see. That is not hardcore mode; that is sabotage mode.

- ridiculous server settings, especially toward the end. It was like walking in a minefield at times due to all the written restrictions on what you could and could not do in different servers.

- even though there was a good variety of maps and modes, especially toward the end, the majority of the servers did not use them, preferring to run only their same old favorites, over and over and over and over again.

- even though BFBC2 Vietnam was a great expansion, not enough players bought it when it came out, so it was in some ways a missed opportunity. By the time the sale price dropped, it was almost too late. For me it was a no-brainer, but it came out at a time iirc when CoD MW2 was heavily pushing out its map packs, and unfortunately that was where a lot of the $$$ were going.

The new GS format sucks so bad none of my friends even come here any more.

Instead of allowing us to go to PC or other areas, they now just dump everyone in the same mixed up bad stew.

For example, I don't want to have to sift through console crap to find articles on PC games, but they are so lazy now we don't have a choice. Talk about regression, that is what GS now stands for. Just a bunch of garbage pages where there used to be choice, information, and entertaining reads and views. Heck, I even used to pay for the sub - no way I'd pay for this jumble of crap now.

GS, you took the wrong turn lumping everything together the way you did. it sucks now.
