Yes, they are legitimate.

However, know that you can buy from their actual site or other users of the site reselling certain items. If you're buying from the site itself, then it's perfectly okay, but I would suggest doing research on the seller whenever you're buying from them instead.

Dirty Bomb is relatively new, but growing really fast. It's also free, so if you're interested, you can play that.

Although many people might say that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is your best bet here, it's really not that fun because it takes tons of practice.

It's not like Call of Duty where you can shoot someone wherever on their body and it does substantial amounts of damage. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive almost forces you to aim for the head and, if you're not doing that, you're going to fail pretty quickly. You can definitely try it out and see how you like it, but overall, it's a lot of practice and I never thought it was worth it. Fortunately, a new shooter game just came out on Steam called Dirty Bomb. I've been playing that since it's release and can guarantee you'll have a fun time with that.

It's a very class-oriented game, much like Battlefield, but a lot more fast-paced. The game is in beta, but still have competitive modes, as well as a lottery system where you can get new guns, abilities, and camouflages for your characters. If you're interested, I'd say check out some gameplay. Other than that, I think I'd wait until something big comes out - like Halo 5 - which should be out this October. Also, Call of Duty isn't particularly bad, if you're into run-and-gun type stuff. It's not a very team-oriented game unless you're playing on competitive or with a competent team. Still, it isn't a bad game, by any means.

Does this help at all?

To be completely sucked into the game, as if to feel like I'm the character and my immediate reality is non-existent, is a rarity for me now. I used to play a lot of The Elder Scrolls and other free-roam games, but know that the market is pretty over-saturated with indie games and shooters, I don't really find games that treat me that way anymore. The recent exception being The Witcher III, but it'll never be the same as how I felt when playing through The Elder Scrolls series. I really do value the immersion that you can get from certain games, but lately I feel as though it cannot be replicated for me.

Anyway, to answer your question, I'd say No Man's Sky is your best bet here. Maybe something like DayZ, since that's open-ended.

If you're looking for a game where you can be a summoner and build it whichever way you'd like, I would suggest Path of Exile. I would also suggest the Witch class and googling some beginner summoner builds. It's free-to-play on Steam, so it's at least worth a look.

In comparison to all shooter games? Nah.

In comparison to shooter games on the console? Still nah.

Halo 5.

I was a loyal player to the Gears of War franchise. I was at the midnight releases for all of their games and played Gears of War 1-3 religiously. When Judgement came out, it was such a huge slap in the face that it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I really cannot get behind any new Gears of War game because, mostly, they're just going downhill and the experience Judgement gave me was horrendous. I am happy that they're remastering the old ones, though - I'm incredibly thrilled to try those games out because, at least there, the games were solid. I just hope they retain the value they had when they originally came out.

On a more positive note, Halo 5 seems like it'll do pretty all right!

Most games rip-off of one another.

Just look at The Witcher 3. Apparently they thought no one would notice, but Geralt is wearing a shirt. What other game has a shirt in it? Oh, yeah - The Legend of Zelda. It's ridiculous how blatantly ripped-off everything is nowadays; can't anyone come up with a newer concept for a game?

If you're having a difficult time against the monsters, I'd advise you check a couple of things:

  • Your skills and vitality.
  • Your use of your silver sword.

Although it's subjective, I'd say that putting points into your spells would be better than your combat points. Skills offer more defense and, if you're getting downed within a couple of seconds, it's important to keep track of your skills because they mean life-or-death on the highest difficulty. I'd recommend upgrading Quen, as it gives you a pretty beneficial shield during combat. It'll push enemies back and, if your stamina is regenerating fast (with light armor), you'll be able to cast it frequently. I'd also recommend you upgrade Axii, since it not only stuns your opponent for a brief moment, but it can also turn those enemies into allies when you upgrade it enough.

The standard route that I take in fights, especially when approaching many enemies, is that I make sure I have full health and armor. I make sure that any oils I have will go onto my sword and that my silver sword is out, as it deals more damage to monsters. I pop on Quen for the shield, so if they hit me, I take no damage. I slash my way through them, periodically dodging so that my Quen shield doesn't drop. Once my stamina regenerates, I stun one with Axii and either kill it or kill its friends. Keeping my shield up is pretty imperative, as it helps a lot in decreasing damage taken, but also allowing me to whittle down enemy forces to tilt the battle in my favor.

I'd also check out your mutagens and generals tab through the Character menu.

If you're not running any vitality mutagens, now would be the time to do so, especially if you're early into the game. Many other mutagens don't give that many benefits, but the vitality ones really do. You should save all mutagens because you can use alchemy to increase their effectiveness. For instance, if you have three green mutagens (+50 Vitality), you can plug those three together for a Greater Green Mutagen, which'll give you +100 Vitality. Other than that, your general tab on the Character menu has a couple skills you can pick up.

  • Survival Instinct is one that gives you an increase to your maximum Vitality by 500.
  • Sun and the Stars gives you vitality regeneration during the day, but stamina regeneration by night.

They may not seem like much, but they're some really good grabs, if you're willing to shell out the points for them. If you're looking to deflect arrows, go to your combat branch in the Character menu and look at the middle option. Defense - Arrow Deflection; put a point into that and you'll be able to deflect arrows while parrying. I'd recommend putting a few more points in the defense tree if you're really dying that much to monsters. However, I think you can get past many of your battles if you just take your time, use your spells and oils well, and time your attacks so you don't take damage.
