I was heading off to Mexico to teach English for a year (three months in now) and couldn't take my Wii so I was looking for something a little more portable. My brother has one and I wasn't all that impressed, but when I started properly researching the library I was sold. It's fast becoming my favourite system purchase ever.

Nope. Sick of ports. Get it on VC or pick up an N64 (they're great). And Nintendo, make me some new game please
Just started Bowser's Inside Story today. Four hours in and I can't put it down. Utterly fantastic!!
Looks cool, but as a late comer to the DS who loves strategy games and is just getting into epic RPGs, I despair that I simply don't have enough years left on this earth to play all the great DS games that I want to
the DSi Store doesn't have a great range of good games yet. I'm willing to pay for better games through the store if and when they become available. I'm not sure what the US has available right now, but there are slim picking from the DSi store in Australia. We downloaded WarioWare Snapped and I am saving our extra 500 points for downloading something that we might actually play.

I'm not sure about what you have down there in Oz, but if you have Pictobits available then get it - it is amazing. Mario vs DK is well worth a look too
Finally received my latest batch of games, putting my total up to ten: Advance Wars, Dragon Quest V, Final Fantasy IV, Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, New Super Mario Bros, Elite Beat Agents, Bowser's Inside Story, Pokémon Platinum and N+. Not too shabby after two months I think. Have to get round to taking a picture of it all soon...
I tend to move around a lot (lived in the US and UK the last two years) and am currently in Mexico City and games from all 3 are fine with my US DS. Also my DSi connects with the US DSi shop wherever I am. I guess cost and possibly the content of the DSi Shop are the only reasons to consider importing - you can just import games from Japan if you want and pay them on the DS you already have. Be careful with voltage though! Nothing worse (I imagine) than having your beloved new DS blow up on you
