I stop playing when the game gets boring, disappoints me or makes me feel like im forcing myself to continue. Some examples were Star Wars Unleashed (I got bored and irritated with the controls before finishing the first level) and Halo 2 ( game froze on me and didnt enjoy playing it all that much). Honestly if the game isnt fun I put it down.

I recently struggled with these ideas ignited by 2 factors, game value and gamerpoints. The first factor:I recently bought a 360 in August and have beat about 7 games since then but havent "100% completed" the games. I felt like I rushed through these games under the impression of "why would you want to play the same game twice?". I didnt understand game replay value. Think about it, you just beat mass effect 1 and you want to go back to the beginning and play it all over again, you already know the story line but you want to play the evil character. I seriously couldnt fathom the idea. Until I recently beat Modern Warfare 3. I am glad I borrowed the game as well as all the games I have played so far for the 360 because it seriously took me under 10 hours to beat the game over 2 days, I could have spent a 60 dollars on this game! Thats when I decided to become a completionist. So now I am going back through the 7 or however many games ive played so far and trying to 100% complete them. Its has definetely increased the game value of the games now that I am giving them more time and trying different difficulties. I honestly believe that beating MW3 on veteran has made me a better MW3 player on Live.

The second factor: After beating the games I had only accumulated around 4000 gamer points out of 14500. The data was staring me in the face. If I were playing the game to its fullest extent I would probably have this many points. But, the fullest extent is my subjective belief. The fullest extent to another gamer may be beating the campaign and playing multiplayer until boredom sets in, MW3 or Halo for example.

What I do know for sure is that if I start feeling bogged down, bored, disappointed or feel the pressure to push through a game, for example Halo 2 or Star Wars Unleashed, I turn the game off and start a new one. Ive got 60 plus games that I want to play and Im not going to waste my time playing a game that I don't like just for points or for completionist status.
