The in-laws gifted me the Turtle Beach DPX21 headphones for this Christmas. I was kinda surprised they popped for a $140 video game gift for me, but I've learned not to look a gift horse in the mouth and I graciously thanked them. It is my first experience playing video games with surround head phones, & all I can say is "Wow!". The head phones are easy to set-up (plugged about 5 things), pkg is all inclusive (all cables included for use with PS3& 360), the cables are very long (set-up cords by system about 3' long & head phones cords about 16' long, long is good because I sit about 12' away from the big screen), the headphones are comfortable (very light, not too tight to head, soft over-ear cups, accommodate a large head- I wear XL hats & 7 5/8" fitted baseball caps, & I wore head phones for 4 1/2 hrs first use with no discomfort or fatigue), & the sound was excellent (no hiss or white noise- none, great mids/highs & good clean lows, very discernable separation & clarity of different sounds, & full sense of depth/direction to sounds). So far I've only played Warhawk & GOW3 with the headphones, but I am looking forward to playing all my PS3 games with them now. It will be fun to game into the wee hours of the morning (explosions & chaos engulfing my head) without waking the wife or kids. They have chat boost & bass boost features. Sorry for the repost & so long.

Best- Bioshock

Why... immediately grabs you (plane crash & swimming thru wreckage/flames), a little exposition (from voice on radio), & just the right amount of cutscene/player control (only takes about 10 minutes to get to Rapture & once there player is instantly in the heat of the action). The beginning very effectively introduces the player to the world of the game (intro is heavily steeped in the atmosphere of Raptor).

Worst- Metal Gear 4

Why... way too long cutscenes (seems like first hour is all cutscenes) and not enough play time (the amount of play time during the initial cutscenes is very short and uneventful/boring). This game was more like an animated film than a game. The beginning feels more about showcasing the game's technological mastery than entertaining the gamer.

I'm shipping of my launch 60G PS3 to GopherMods for repair tonight (YLOD). When I get it back I will let you know how the experience went. I got emails directly from Sony that confirm: $150 for swap launch PS3 w/refurb 120G slim or $180 to fix a launch PS3. I'm going with GopherMods because not keen on giving Sony more $$$ to fix something that shouldn't have broke.

Sent my PS3 to Gophermods on a Thursday (broken with flashing red light), they fixed it & had it back to me by the following Wednesday. Works great, cost $70. They attached a notice about the repair materials needing to cure, and not playing for more than 2 hrs at a time for first 2 months. So far I am pleased with the repair. And if I get 2 years add'l PS3 play time from this repair I will be more than satisfied.

Why are my expectations so high? (expecting PS3 to not break, expecting PS3 fix to last 2 yrs)

The first reason I have high expectations is because I want to believe the best in people/things. (BEST: PS3 is a well built product that does not break if used properly, Gophermods is a top-notch electronics repair shop performing repairs/fixes that last long term).

The second reason I have high expectations is because I believe high expectations result inincreased frequency of high quality results. And low expectations result in increased frequency of low quality results.

I sold my PS2 before I went to college, it hurt a lot becuase i had lots of good games and it was my first one that I owned. Freedom Fighters was my fav game. But it hurt less when I got $150 bucks for it. :)

premier111

This must be the night of other people mentioning games I have finished (2nd instance so far), odd since there aren't many of them. I played and finished Freedom Fighters. It is easily one of my all time favorite games and I could never sell it (unless I needed the $$$ for something dire- maybe to feed a starving child, but the $$$ from Freedom Fighters wouldn't feed anyone much so maybe I still wouldn't sell it). The gameplay and progression thru the game are exceptional, the only thing I wish was differenti s I wish youc ouldn't recruit so many followers by the games later stages, it makes the game too easy.

I hope you rebuy a PS2someday, if you'll play it & enjoy it. I still have my original 2600, 5200, NES, Genesis, PS2 & PS3 (all still working except the PS3). Since the PS3 died I am truly relieved I never sold the PS2 system.

Not sure if it was my age, my lack of skill, or my short attention span, but I remember "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (2600) being one of the hardest games ever.

Contra. Even with the 30 lives cheat I can't beat it.

Desulated

Great game, played it for months. One of the few games I have finished (not with 30 lives). First game I finished and felt a little disappointed after. Not disappointed in finishing it. Didn't know why disappointed then (too young, too immature), know now that I was disappointed in myself for thinking the fun was about finishing it, rather than playing it. Thanks for mentioning a great game.

I feel like I never have enough time to play video games as much as I would like to. I almost never finish the games & I have a stack of neglected games I haven't played yet.

What are the top 3 things that keep you from spending more time playing video games? Mine are my family (wife, 3 yr old daughter & 3 week old son), job (+50 hrs per week), & the TV (sometimes I only have the energy to turn on the TV & turn off my brain).

What are the 3 top games you wish you had more time to play? Mine are RE4 (PS2), GOW2 (PS2) & Warhwak (PS3).
