At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney bought Playstation.

Disney wants their movie division so they can get the full rights back to Spider-Man.

Anything else, even the Playstation is the cherry on top.

2 things

1) The whole "game by game" basis is BS, if MS lets any games that aren't contractionally obligated to the PS5 before the buyout go to the PS5 then he's a moron. Why spend all that money to put games on the PS5, it makes the Xbox redundant, again only a moron would do that.

2) Doom still sucks.

PS...TCHBO

He'll put the lower tier games on as many platforms as they can to maximize profit. They'll save the real meat for themselves.

I could also see older games in the Elder Scrolls, Fallout, or Doom franchises going to PS5 and Switch as well.

Microsoft for example would have nothing to gain by blocking ports of Doom, Doom II, Doom 3 or Doom 64 over to the PS5. Or maybe a special edition of Doom 2016.

Or if we get a remastered version of Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas, letting them be on all systems(like Skyrim remastered)

They also have no reason to pull old copies of Bethesda games off the PS4 and Switch or cancel them given they still would make money off them. So, Elder Scrolls Online stays on the PS4 for right now, and might even come to the PS5 alongside a potential Xbox Series port.

But Elder Scrolls VI, Doom 3(2016 series) or Fallout 5(New Vegas 2)? Those are gonna be exclusives to the Xbox and PC.

Microsoft now owns both Bethesda and Obsidian? That's gonna make for some awkward meetings from both Todd Howard Josh Sawyer. Awkward meetings indeed🤭

Obsidian making Fallout and ID software making Halo.

Make it happen!

Now we can finally have a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas! Come on Microsoft, make it happen! Give Fallout to Obsidian while Bethesda finishes up Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI.

WTF I bought fallout 4 on PS4 and Skyrim remastered. Sony and the U.S. Government will not let this kind of monopoly happen.

If the Government did not step in when Disney bought 20th Century Fox which was a much larger merger and gave Disney control of a major movie studio, what makes you think they will stop Microsoft from buying Bethesda?

Compared to Disney buying Fox or ATT&T and Warnermedia merging(both of which the government allowed), Microsoft buying Bethesda is small potatoes.

In other words, the government won't do crap to stop this from going forward.

@caryslan2: Yep, that's true. Elder Scrolls VI will indeed be marketed heavily for the Xbox and played first on GamePass on either Xbox or PC.

Yeah, Microsoft has shared IPs with other companies, but not their major IPs like Halo, Gears of War, Forza, Killer Instinct, or even the Rare stuff.

Those titles have remained exclusive to Microsoft platforms(Xbox and Windows PCs).

So, I don't see Microsoft sharing Elder Scrolls VI with Sony or Nintendo. Yeah, Cuphead might have arrived on the Switch and PS4(years after the Xbox One version), but here' the thing.

Cuphead is not in the same league as an IP like Elder Scrolls or even Doom when it comes to popularity. Elder Scrolls VI would be a major system seller for the new Xbox.

I remember when Sony fanboys were gloating over getting Street Fighter V as a PS4 exclusive and more recently, Final Fantasy XVI as a PS5 exclusive and were rubbing it on the faces of Xbox fanboys.

So, how does it feel now that Microsoft has played their hand and made Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Doom exclusive to their consoles?

This is pretty damn funny. Sony fanboys love to have exclusives and rubbing them in everyone's faces until Nintendo or Microsoft play the same game.

Then they get mad and upset about it.

@caryslan2: eh, not really. MS will still allow Bethesda titles to be published as third party titles. Sony fanboys are just lucky that MS didn't buy the entire PlayStation division

They will likely allow older games to still be published for Sony platforms and maybe a couple of games that were gonna come to the PS5 since those deals were likely already in place.

But I just don't see Microsoft spending all this money to buy Zenimax just to not use Elder Scrolls VI as a major system seller for the new Xbox.

Yeah, they allowed Minecraft to be on all platforms, but that's the only game I can think of where they bought out a company and IP and put it everywhere.

Otherwise, they keep everything to themselves.

Microsoft knows its first-party line-up is lacking compared to Sony and Nintendo. They just gave the Xbox a major shot in the arm with this move, and I just don't see them allowing the next Doom, Fallout, or Elder Scrolls to be anywhere else besides the Xbox Series hardware or PCs.

@blueinheaven: They did not just buy a "few games". Microsoft now owns all of Id's library of games dating back to Commander Keen and maybe even earlier. They own the entire Fallout franchise from the first games in the 90s, all the way to Fallout 76.

All the Elder Scrolls Games belong to them. My point is, Microsoft now owns Doom, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls which are all proven a million sellers that can and will move hardware.

Once people realize that they can only play Elder Scrolls VI on Xbox Series hardware, it will boost sales of the console. Even if people buy these games on PC, Microsoft still walks away with money in their pocket.

Zenimax is not a small company. Buying them out gave Microsoft tons of IPs and franchises to play with.

Wow, Microsoft just made one hell of a move, and its gonna be tough for Sony to counter this one.

A few days ago, Sony fanboys were touting Final Fantasy XVI would be a Playstation 5 exclusive.

Turns out Microsoft was sitting on this and played their trump card a day before Xbox Series X and S preorders start.

Doom, Wolfenstein, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and everything else that Zenimax owns now belongs to Microsoft. If you want to play Elder Scrolls VI, you need to go buy an Xbox or get a PC. Want to play the next Doom? Well, same story there. The next Fallout? Better get an Xbox Series X or S.

This kinda hurts Nintendo as well since Bethesda started supporting them this generation, but this is pretty much Microsoft kicking Sony in the balls and then giving them the middle finger. That's how huge this story is.

Also, here's one other thing. Microsoft owns both Obsidian and Bethesda. Could we finally get a New Vegas 2 only for the Xbox Series X?

As long as Microsoft does not screw them up like they did Rare, and lets them do their thing, this is a major blow Microsoft just landed on Sony and beefs up their first-party line-up.

@BenjaminBanklin: Most of the games listed are also on Xbox Gamepass, barring the Sony Exclusives and Battlefield 1.

Xbox Gamepass has the following games....

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is on Xbox Game Pass

Mortal Kombat X is on Xbox Gamepass

Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition is on Xbox Gamepass(alongside Final Fantasy VII and IX)

Batman: Arkham Knight is on Xbox Game Pass!

And while Fallout 4 is not on the Game Pass, Fallout 76: Wastelanders and Fallout: New Vegas is on Xbox Gamepass

I don't get why Sony Fanboys are running around high fiving each other and acting like they got one over on the Xbox.

You wanna talk about games that won't be on the Playstation+, but are on Xbox Gamepass? Well, let's take a look and I'm not going to include Xbox First Party titles.

Aces Combat 7: Skies Unknown

Dark Siders Genesis

Darksiders III

Dishonored 2

Disgea 4: Complete

Dragon Quest XI S; Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition

Fallout Wastelanders 76

Fallout: New Vegas

Final Fantasy IX

Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Remix

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue

Kingdom Hearts III

Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite

Mass Effect

Metro 2033 Redux

Metro Last Light Redux

Middle Earth-Shadow of War

Minecraft

Monster Hunter World

Ninja Gaiden II

No Man's Sky

Panzer Dragoon Orta

Rage 2

Shadow Warrior 2

Soul Calibur VI

Tekken 7

The Outer Worlds

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut

Wolfenstein Youngblood

Yakuza 0

This is not even all the games that are on Game Pass right now.

I'm honestly trying to figure out why Sony Fanboys think they have an edge over Microsoft here. Yeah, its nice that Sony is offering those games, and its a good lineup. But I don't see the argument where Sony has a better selection of games on Plus compared to what's on Game Pass.
