At the end of a generation that is usually the console that sold the most, just a side effect of higher sales. You see , high sales and most AAAa's and AA's go hand in hand. They are not contradictions.

The only valid sesible way to determine which console is coming out on top is sales. Sales can be measured and are totally objective.

Claiming anyone but sony won last gen is living in denial. (i had a cube and an xbox last gen, no ps2. Sony won by miles..) you on the other hand Casey would probably shout out loud something like thtis :

but with your system a purchase can only mean a positive vote. somebody can buy something, hate it, but still have it count towards being the winner.

Well then Casey : In your opinion reviews should be the determening factor to decide which system wins if i understand you corectly.

In that case you are saying that we should go by gamerankings or metacritic. That is cool if we are discussing how good a game is according to the reviewers. However it has no relevance in regards to a systems sucess. The gameing history is full of exellently reviewed games that sold porly, and crappy ones that sold very well.

Higher, taller, bigger,more can be measured. Reviews are opinions and are unmeasurable. Sales are facts.

In an argument facts always beat opinions. Systemwars or in the realworld. A crappy game that sells 2 mill is more sucessfull that a great game that sell 200k.

In my book you own yourself so bad it's almost funny....especially since you are a mod....

I own a 360 and a pc, but i don't go to bed crying at night because of the wii's sucess. In the console race the wii is the champ right now and seems to be just that for quite some time. So what?

This discussion is almost at a level of "my dads stronger than your dad" between 10 year olds. If you are only using arguments based upon your personal preferanses you can't win. You just make yourself look bad. Period!!

Which console is more sucessfull? Right now Wii is number 1, 360 2 and ps3 3. DEAL WITH IT AND GROW UP!!

IMO, it is the most useless thing Nintendo has come up with. I mean just look at it. Nintendo is acting like we can't exercise properly. So you can do push ups on it. So you can stand there and move your foot. WOW! Its really pathetic. Why not just walk up and down the street instead of wasting money on this short term novelty item.

Any self respecting gamer will avoid Wii-fit. If your that desperate to lose weight then go outside and play some soccer. Nintendo is encouraging us to stay indoors and stand in front of a television while moving from side to side.

Seriously I strongly recommend that you avoid it. Go to the park, get some fresh air and play some real sports instead of playing on the Wii-"Lets make people think they are losing weight by pretending that doing push ups on a board is totally better than doing it on the floor"-fit.

how can we use sales to track the winner here when there isn't even a reliable way to track pc sales? we've always used games here.CaseyWegner

"Caseywegner", pc's arn't really a part of systemwars. It's a compleatly different thing. It's uncomperable hence not used much here or anywhere in debates about who is winning this and that. Pc's range form low tech to high tech. One pc can play crisis and another pc would have trouble playing Mario 64. There is also the piracy issue..

Perhaps it should have been called console wars instead of systemwars?

Oh and Casey, what's up with the "we've always used games here" attitude. I live and breathe in the real world. I relate to fact not opinion. The only objective measurement for a consoles sucess is it's sales. Some might try to convince themselves this is not true, but they are only closing their eyes to reality.

High sales = high software sales = more games released = higher chance of said console getting a higher number of good games than the competition = most sucessfull console will get the most shovelware for said console.

These are the laws og capitalism face em' or live in a farytale world of "instant ownedness"

well...at least that's my story, i mean, it sold more last week than the week before it, I think people are starting to talk...and buy this crazy game.

Next week it could overtake sales of Zelda:TP (ZOMG) and put itself in the top 20. Third party wii games not dead indeed.

Quite a few wii games show amazing legs. They just seem to keep selling. No more heroes will be intereseting to follow in the following weeks and months.

Word of mouth might be a big factor on this one. In a years time i will not be to suprised if it turns out to be close to a 1 millon (or more )seller worldwide.

Hasn't been releaced in europe yet, and europe gets a sensored version (black blood instead of red). Will that affect sales here? Time will tell, but boy are nintendo back in it with a vengence...
