i dont care about phone features, i have a basic mobile phone for that. psp is a handheld games console and i think it should stay as one. i like the touchscreen idea, that would make internet great & would tie in with their idea for a native psp online store.

vibration would probably interfere with the UMD drive's ability to read the disc i think. only way to deal with it is if the entire game loaded like an anti-shock CD player, where the data goes onto temporary memory and theres loads of error correction, basically reducing battery life. if not affected by vibration, then why not add it? mobile phoes have pretty good vibration.

Matthew-first: youre right and eventually after psp 5000 or whatever they will release one with 2nd analogue stick, because theyll run out of stuff to add that people dont need so start adding stuff they do need. it wont even cost them much more to add one extra slidey nub and game updates can retrospectively add compatibility. I think psp2 will be released, but that'll be when the ps3 costs nothing to make... and it becomes affordable to put the components into a handheld.

for everyone who thinks it cant get 2 analogue sticks until psp2, I beg to differ. the megadrive 2 had a controller with 6 face buttons, opposed to 3 so it is possible, the original playstation first had only digital controllers then the dual shock came out and it had dual analogue sticks and the first game to only work with dual shock was ape escape! then everyone bought a dual shock controller. if sony has managed to sell slim psps to people who had fat ones then they can easily sell a new psp with dual analogue sticks! just think for a minute about it!

ok its got a better screen and better video output capability and microphone on the outside but wheres my built in 80 gig ipod hard drive that i wanted, wheres my second analogue stick? they also need to make the analogue stick more like the one on the dreamcast or something, the slidey nipple one is horrible. I'd also appreciate L2 and R2 buttons for my classic psx games. sony need to do better for me to let go of my old skool psp. it also desperately needs proper internet support (802.11g! not 802.11a/b!!!) so i can use youtube at full speed. please release all arcade games ever made that will work on it and all old school console games. 1st person shooters are terrible on it even though they are addictive i hate using face buttons as an analogue stick. Make some good arcade style games and action platformers and it will be amazing.

sunnysean, you forget, the ps3 has more memory than the 360, since the Cell has 512kB L2 cache and each SPE also has 256kB (256 x 7 = 1,792kB) in addition to the 256MB XDR for the system and 256MB GDDR3. in the end the PS3 has more memory. It also has blu ray games, wheras the 360 can only use the hd-dvd add on for movies, because the bit rate of the interface is too slow for games. The hd-dvd add on for the 360 also brings the price above the price of the 20gig ps3 (its equivalent) The 60gig ps3 has wifi internet access, which is a must for many people like me, as i'd hate to have a cable going across the house, so theres no competition in my mind.

This thing is gonna replace the pc for a lot of things- ripping and playing CDs and movies, storing and browsing all your media files, surfing the internet and downloading... the only things ill use my laptop for if i had a ps3 would be microsoft office and photoshop and msn messenger. Does anyone know if you can burn CDs and DVDs using the ps3?

Once ps3 hits the market, Xbox 360 will be under pressure to implement the HD-DVD drive add-on, and i suspect many later games will need this add-on as standard, so the price will be comparable if not more than the price of ps3 in the long run. people have to look at the bigger picture, instead of worrying about the next 6 months. The longer a piece of tech has been in full scale production, the cheaper it gets. Im just looking forward to having even more titles available by the time its cheap enough, In the meantime i'll be playing on my laptop and on my flatmates' consoles. When PS3 arrives, we'll have forgotten about all this bad news, because we'll be enjoying the games too much.
