was thinking, one player might pick a spot because he thinks that it is a vantage point where as another player would think otherwise (FPS type games) - Surely AI can be created to have personality (no sarcasm at all in that statement). The AI is built around weights against things from what I have read in the past (in this example, cover), e.g, which is better for cover. The other thing in games such as BF:BC you also have an objective in mind. Say you are moving up the field to take a position or whatever). A wall might be a good vantage point but not if you are trying to move up, the wall is obviously static. etc. even though it might have a higher weight for cover it might not for the purposes of moving up the field, maybe a bush is better for camouflage purposes, that might suite your needs at the time... can current AI be programmed to detect this sort of weight, choosing between camouflage and other covers or has it already been implemented. I found it to be an interesting article. (hopefully everyone understood my use of the word weight)

I truly believe this is a good idea in concept. What about the developers though, when they release their game, in 6 months the on-live guys will update their system, the developers making the game could have put in more stuff etc, done something that they couldn't have before in some game design element - there is no stable "platform" for them to design a game on. I guess you could argue then that they would have more freedom as the developers know that everyone has access to the same equipment, i.e they know the lowest capabilities of the system. I'm not sure if this will take off, but if it does then I think they will change the gaming world for ever. Think about it. no more hackers, all the computation of the game is done at the far end! that means no one can hack at new Counter-strike or Battlefield games unless they have access to the servers where there game is played, what you see on the screen is only the image that is being beamed down to you from the server room. NO MORE HACKERS, Simply amazing!
