You would better understand the story if you got the first one, but you dont need it to play the second one. You're fine without the first one but it can help you out. You could just ask around for the story.
What kind of game is pikmin,is it like real time strategy or watThe_Nintendawg Its kinda like an action-adventure with a little RTS I guess. It has a lot of puzzles too.

Its my first time too. I never really new about AC games. But it seems a lot of people like it so I am pretty interested in this one.
