@superbuuman So you still support Capcom? Does that mean you'll be buying Super SF X Tekken, Super Hyper SF X Tekken, SF X Tekken Arcade Edition, and Super SF X Tekken Arcade Edition? @X-RS Your analogy is inaccurate. It's more like you could normally pay $500 for a sick paint job or spoiler or some other upgrade. Instead they're giving you the upgrade in a locked form, and will sell you the key, saving you the trip of going to pick up the upgrade yourself.

@darkwolfgang Looks like someone skipped the article. :P @zaiwen I believe that was whoever made the first expansion pack, but people seem to be fine with those? @Pyronius I'm not sure you're understanding what the author is saying... If they stop putting DLC on discs, then they'll do the same thing only they'll force you to download it and waste time that way. The heart of the problem is that they're overpricing these DLC packs, on or off disc, and gamers still buy it, so they keep selling it. This article is trying to convince people to attack a different part of the problem, because if they convince game developers to leave DLC off disc, they'll fall into a false sense of victory and stop arguing with any of it. Then we'll be even worse off than we were before.

@NighTmarE_evo I agree, they're a great outlet. The only problem is when people take that out on other players online ;P

@Vince21C Yes, yes I would. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport Please read the first paragraph of that page, and while it does say that sport by itself usually refers to physical exertion, you have to remember that these are "e-sports".

@RockyandOscar I hope you realize that that's the exact same thing that pro football/soccer/baseball players do, and you're not just singling out pro gamers.

The only reason I don't watch pro gaming much is because I don't like to watch sports in general... but what people don't realize is that this IS a sport, and the players ARE athletes, they're just not the kind we've all grown up to think of. The only difference between the more well-known sports and e-sports is that e-sports focus entirely on the mental skill of an athlete, while normal sports still require mental training, they tend to focus more on the physical side. Video games are just a giant puzzle, you have to figure out how to get the lights on the monitor of a tv or computer to light up the way you want them to by pressing certain buttons in a certain order. E-sports are very much like chess tournaments, and they both get hate for the same reason. They're simply not as popular. People are intimidated by the rules of society that say that chess and major gaming is for nerds, and while a lot of people would simply rather play normal sports, a lot are just scared of these rules. The good news is that gaming has come a long way, video-gaming whatsoever used to be grounds for being called a nerd, while now games like CoD and Halo are accepted, because they're POPULAR. E-sports will continue to grow and gather larger crowds until they're just as big of an event as football and soccer, and that's just what's going to happen, whether everyone accepts it or not.
