Do you use the scheduler on rivatuner. I have mine set that the fan speed will increase or decrease once it reaches a threshold range. So even if it was idle if it hits like 59C it will go to 60% fan till it drops to like 57C. Also maybe you should just set your fanspeed to atleast 40% all the time since it isnt that loud and really helps to cool the gpu.Kurushio
No matter what I set it too as soon as I launch a 3d app it reverts back down to the default speed of 11.25%.

I adjust my gpu fan speed using ntune to 70% and as soon as I fire up a game (call of duy 4) it reverts back to 11.25%. I also tried using riva tuner as well but it still drops down. My system is a gateway gt4024, pentium d805 with 2 gigs of ram and a 7950gt 256mb. My thought is it might be my power supply witch is a 500 watt. Maybe my power supply cant produce enough power when the fan speed is set and a 3d app is launched? Any suggestions is appreciated.

If you have good air flow in your case 60% should be sufficient under load. My 8800gt runs at about 65-70c under load with 60% fan speed while playing cod4 max settings.

The 8800gt's tend to get quite hot because the fan never goes beyond 29%. Use ntune from nvidia and increase the fan speed manually to 70% or so and run 3dmark again.
