I nottice it has a varbile speed fan.  I have been doing FaH for the last 3-4 days solid (no time for games :) ) and this morning I finally decided to give it a break and I shut off FaH.  About 3-4 mins after I did this I heard the fan slow down to a lower speed.  Must have a control so as the heat goes up and blows harder.

Just so you know I was very near the machine cleaning and heard this, normally you cant even tell its on.

I just have a very cheap ****** Wireless router, was only 39.99 at Target, range of about 500ft.  It can average 800-850 KB/sec so its not losing anything over the wireless.

It works fine, but can a wireless setup casue lag in games?  I seem to get very good speed when downloading (something like 800 Kilobytes per sec) so I would think not.  Anyone have any issues?

I think people mis-understood me the other day when I posted about the external cooler for the PS3.  It does not blow air in, it pulls it out.  It attaches to the back and the right side, both these areas are exhust.  Even with that, you have the added noise to deal with, the fact that its 3rd party and could pretty much void the warrenty if you even THINK of using it, etc.

I was thinking of something like what you would have on your PC, that can read the sensors on the motherboard.  Since the PS3 power light will flash red if its too hot, we can assume it also has sensors like this.  Would be nice to be able to watch this somehow, I have been running Folding@Home for almost a week solid (been working a lot, no game time :( ) and I hope I am not burning it up.

I have heard 360 fans saying "The 360 is better since it has more RAM and can share it".  Well here are the RAM stats for each machine.

360: 512MB GDDR3 @ 700MHz
        10MB Embedded DRAM

PS3: 256MB XDR @ 3.2GHz
        256MB GDDR3 @ 700MHz

As your can see they have the same amount of RAM.  If anything the PS3 has a slight edge in that its main RAM is 3.2 Ghz.  It does not need to share RAM.

Micorsoft as been behind the times on quite a few things the ended up being very big.  Bill Gates said around the time that Windows 95 came out that the Web was "just a fad" more or less.  Talk about being caught flat footed.  He did not notice that the number of websites were doubling about even 6 nanosecs.

MS needed to bring out the new machine, HD is just too big, and they proably figured there had to be some users out there that were anti Sony but still wanted a machine that at least had HDMI.  So they brought it out.  Still does not mesure up to the PS3.  Like I always say "its not bashing when its the truth"

I had decided against getting one, mainly when I thought of it ramming air into the fan thats in there already.  Sony really knows how to design a case, gets really good flow.  I may just run the vacuum hose over the vents a few times a month to make sure no dust bunnies make a home in there.

I have been running Folding@Home since April 20th and already have 20 WUs, so it flies.
