So,

You expected them to say the hype is dying?

OreoMilkshake

I'm expecting the BF3 fanboys to get owned and shut up.

There's no question that MW3 will sell better. That won't mean it's a better game.

Time to close this thread.

thats quite the wait for the vastly inferior version.

Heirren

How is it vastly inferior?

I'm assuming he meant how large of a downgrade the visuals will be. I don't own a pc powerful enough to run this game as it should be played, but art direction/visuals really shine if it is played on a proper setup.

plus option of keyboard + mouse or a controller.

[QUOTE="vashkey"] No. The topic does bring up a good point. Why does Call of Duty get criticized for sitting the same graphics engine an entire console generation but Valve gets a free pass?

vashkey

That's because your comparing a game against a developer. Call of Duty looks the same year in year out to an extent that I can't even distinguish which one is which.

Valve games on the other hand have their own visual identity, TF2 doesn't look like L4D, and neither look like Portal. They have explored different avenues with the Source Engine, and have come out with unique looking games. It also helps that they don't release umpteen versions of TF, L4D and Portal.

No, I'm comparing how The CoD series frequently recieves criticism for using the same old engine but Valve doesn't. I wasn't talking about art direction(and there really isn't much other places you can take CoD in that is hasn't already....)

You've just said it. That is the reason they get criticised. What can CoD bring to the table every year that is new through that engine? When you limit yourself to making a game anually for a single franchise there isn't much room to maneuver.

It only makes sense that if you are sticking with the same engine that you would develop different games in order to prevent things stagnating from a visual perspective.

Valve have managed to do that. The plethora of CoD developers have not, and they don't mind cause it's selling regardless; they don't feel the need to create something new and original.

Every PC gamer and hardcore gamer know that when Half-Life 2 came out with Source Engine, it was the greatest graphics engine created. vashkey

I already own a physical copy but just bought it again for Steam.

If you're an RPG fan... get it.

Think EA will be wanting to resolve this considering the money they've made with the PC platform. It's in their own interests to have their games on the most popular DD service.

Don't think you can break down those walls yet. You need to go back out of that small area and keep progressing upwards.

Should add to the list though Grim Fandango. That's another game with a world that sold me.

p00zer

Snap. I think you hit a peak right there.

As for other games that sold me in terms of the setting:

Broken Sword 1 + 2

Jade Empire

Mafia

Psychonauts

Thief: Deadly Shadows

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (it's buggy, but once patched it's good)

Quoted because I feel it is relevant.

Also worth mentioning, from the money made on Crysis (3.5+ million sales) Crysis Warhead (1.5+ million sales), Crytek were able to expand their main studio, open another 2 studios, buy another 2 studios, fund a multiplat game on a new engine and it made the Yerli brothers millionares!
After Crysis 2, so far they have layed off people!

So who all is getting Ryse?
