@sheatan66 You're a misogynistic idiot. For the vast majority of gamers, the protagonist's gender is arbitrary. I guess there are a few close minded holdouts however.

@Spartan-1657 Definitely truth to this, but I don't think wanting a small amount of diversity in the industry is selfish. The reason for this gender inequality is certainly rooted in the creation of the medium, but that's exactly why articles like this need to be written. Without these sorts of articles, the industry would keep plugging on with business as usual, but hopefully now an industry rooted in catering to a small demographic can change just a little bit.

@IgotEpixx Lol, the double standard argument is always brought up during this conversation, and it makes me laugh. By that logic, any white man who is called a "cracker" should be just as offended as a black man who is called the N word. It isn't the same thing because men haven't been objectified in society like women have been for centuries. The dominant group in society has had their way for a very long time, and during this time the subordinate group has been marginalized in some regard. In this instance, women are the subordinate group and men are the dominant. Men being objectified in one instance doesn't even compare to the amount of objectification that women have been dealing with since the beginning of time.

@nate1222 @IgotEpixx I would bet very good money that there are indeed pictures of women in bikinis strewn across the Seattle area. It's just that they're so commonplace, no one thinks twice when they see it. Whereas, when you see a man in a speedo it catches your eye.

@HazeChimp I hope you're either being ironic or English is your second language.

@finalkain @nate1222 Wow, that's a great way to marginalize an entire group of people. If we're considering that, how bout we also add "LDS nonsense", "People suffering from asthma", and "Men who wear tight jeans" to the ESRB list.

@finalkain @ToughCritic28 @Frostbite24 While that's true, that's only one genre of film. Many dramas cast female leads, as well as romantic comedies. Unfortunately for video games, the gender inequality is straight across the board for all genres.

@Frostbite24 The problem is that 95% of gamers aren't straight white males - there's much more diversity than that in the gaming community. I see the point you are making, but that number is way off.

@ivan_osorio She is doing something; she's spreading the word. This website is a great means of reaching a wide audience. She's in a position where her articles can be viewed by thousands of people, so these articles are doing a great deal of good just by making thousands of gamers aware of the issue.
